I found this statement interesting. I absolutely think that Obama has been under a magnifying glass from day one with a select group of people actively looking for ways to make him fail or actively trip him whenever possible, but I also think that these actions began in earnest at the end of Clinton and were applied to vigorously Bush. I think that the difference today is that these actions are completely overt to a point of advertising campaigns, immediate, unrelenting, and deliberate to the point of creating situations. Respect is a thing of the past, and the nation's lack of self respect and accompanying self control are a national wart, or maybe tumor is more appropriate.

The city whose Democratic mayor said GOP Gov. Chris Christie's administration tied Superstorm Sandy aid to her support for a real estate project has, so far, received a level of aid from state-run programs that is similar to what other towns got, a review of grant data shows.

EDIT: I guess it could be state-run programs that are funded by the fed. aid? It merely says state-run and not state funded.

The article itself kinda wanders in that direction toward the end. Something about the "equal" money being from state coffers, with bigger federal bucks - to be dispatched by the state - yet to be divvied up. I'm cheating a bit, taking some context from other stories on the situation

It still doesn't mean that she wasn't threatened. Just because they may not have followed through on the threat doesn't mean it didn't happen. And just because the aid was on par doesn't mean that Hoboken shouldn't have gotten more given their location and damage.

I guess I just fail to see how this says much.

Nissim Zeev, a member of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, told the Jerusalem Post on Sunday Netanyahu must "display national responsibility" as prime minister.

Let's hope they don't start suggesting that they should cleanse the bloodline, you know. Maybe they need to visit one of the about a million holocaust memorials around the world to remind them what happens with this kind of thinking when it's taken to it's logical conclusion.

Seriously. I understand that the lawmakers do not speak for the whole of Israel but, given their history, you would think that Jews would be among the most tolerant people in the universe. It is a very slippery slope if they let Jews start marrying Norwegians.

We're no better. The same thing will happen here when the Obama girls are seen dating white guys.

It's a bit more complicated than that--I know some secular progressive Jews who are not wild about inter-marriage because they believe that the survival of cultural/ethnic Judaism is far from assured. Of course, this position is cast as a personal choice but it's not quite fair to view this as a fascist sentiment.
