Sen. Chuck Grassley (R, Bumfuck IA), opening the Senate's immigration hearings, opines that

“Given the events of this week, it’s important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system...While we don’t yet know the immigration status of people who have terrorized the communities in Massachusetts, when we find out it will help shed light on the weaknesses of our system.”

Presidential hopeful and "new" Republican immigration visier Marco Rubio seen silently praying the old bastard strokes out

I'm not sure what Grassley is saying. Should we not allow an 18-year old, who has lived and gone to school in this country for about 8 years and by all accounts had been a "nice kid", to become a citizen? If not him, who?

unless you have connections, the situation for becoming a legal citizen is already pretty dire. shit, we're not even considered "legal residents" yet i don't think.

Gonna be tough to build a fence around Massachusetts.

American citizenship is for Americans. Maybe he should be an American first.

@ppppolls: 86% of voters in SC-1 support background checks, only 12% are opposed. District voted for Romney by 18: http://t.co/ShnUJwbsfp

@ppppolls: 45% of voters in SC1 say GOP opposition to background checks make them less likely to support party, 21% more likely: http://t.co/ShnUJwbsfp

so only 12% of voters are opposed to background checks but 21% support the GOP opposing them? what

Baucus won't caucus

'cause he's leaving

if he pondered this decision before the gun bill votes, leaning toward leaving, why'd he go all chickenshit on them?

Had forgotten how much I loathe Baucus. His fingerprints are on many of the Senate's most epic screwups over recent decades, and he's basically a straight-up whore.

He also reminds me powerfully of Judge Smails from Caddyshack.

Bloomberg stated in an article in regards to privacy vs. security post 9/11 that we may need to begin to reinterpret the Constitution when dealing with "terrorists who want to take away our freedoms."

That's funny coming from a Mayor who has banned trans-fats, would like to ban consumption of large quantities of soda in specific cases, has enacted a highly controversial "search and frisk" policy, and has the Muslim communities in NYC under near constant surveillance.

Seems like he's doing a well enough job removing freedoms in his own right.
