Fwiw, the article says there a multiple signs warning people about this, I forget what they say exactly though, and that there's a net or some sort of catch basin between the fence and a lower fence and the dogs. Not trying to indict/absolve the mom with that info, it was a careless, awful, nightmare of a mistake. Unfortunately, shit like that happens though, this is horrific because it involves seeing your kid getting eaten by wild animals, but I'm sure it happens in similar fashion with kids falling from height and getting maimed or killed by sidewalks, or kids wandering into traffic and getting smashed. All on the same level of tragedy, IMO, this is just unusual because we don't usually find ourselves in the company of carnivorous pack hunters on the daily here.
