did you see a picture of the scene or the area or the railing or anything? there's a good chance it seemed pretty safe but then there was a freak accident

i'm not sure what i'm feeling is sympathy here, but this is the kind of thing i don't think i'd wish on my worst enemy. if my son was gone tomorrow b/c of a terrible mistake i'd made i don't know how i could live with myself. bill's nightmare fuel reference is spot on.

I'm probably being a little heartless. The mother made a mistake that will scar her for the rest of her life. I suppose that's worse than being mauled to death by 11 African dogs?

i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic. all i can do is relate it to my situation, and if that happened to me; yes, trying to get through life knowing that my only son died because of gross negligence on my part would be worse than death

If you're talking to me, I'm not being sarcastic, but what I meant is, what difference does it make whether it's worse to make a mistake that costs your child its life, and that will scar you for the rest of your life, or to be that child?
