being the one stuck making the coffee every morning (now that the woman who used to get here at 8 and make it is gone) is making me consider giving up coffee

I'm not much for talking on the phone but I find that when I get wound up I'm pretty facile, can engage with all the perfunctory chitchat pretty well, and actually make more calls than I need to, and productive ones, too, when I get on a roll

thankfully it only happens every 2 weeks or so

Nothing like that quick pivot from hoping my Ebay electronics would get bids to fearing I somehow misled the buyer and it's gonna blow up in my face

My department VP bought us one of those machines for Christmas. It's up to us to buy our own coffee, though. When I told that to my wife and her family, they all laughed and called him a cheapskate. I was pretty blown away by that.

Yeah those individual discs are way, way, waaaaay out of line for cost. Just get a bunch of the refillable disks and buy bulk coffee like before. I was given a similar thingy (Tassimo) for tea and I just use the "cleaning" disk and a standard tea bag.

I just thought it was strange they all thought he should be on the hook for the coffee. If someone gave you a car you wouldn't expect a Mobil card.

But the gift is kind of empty if the recipient(s) can't afford to use it

Fair. The thing is, we just got this new kitchen and he put that machine in there for us. I should mention a bunch of people in my office routinely went down four flights of stairs for $1.15 coffee in the snackshop

And that I am ordinarily no friend to this VP
