Two kids from the area I am from recently died in a really bad car accident. They weren't wearing seatbelts. I admit I rarely use a seatbelt myself unless I am with a crazy person which is stupid I admit. Well anyway, a teacher of mine in high school(seriously a bitch of all of bitches) who still teaches said something like this to one of her current classes when the topic of their lost friends came up: "Those kids were idiots, I would spit on their graves". It apparently horrified the kids in the class judging by a lot of the reaction around here. I hope she gets fired and fries in hell. She always seemed crazy and everything and I am only sharing this because it kind of freaks me out too because I don't know how I would have reacted in high school hearing a teacher saying that about one of my friends who just died. She doesn't deny saying these things. She is obviously a strong supporter of Click-it Or Ticket.

Yup. I think the last time I owned a winter coat was a Penn State Starter jacket. If if gets really cold I wear 2 hoodies.

That's crazy. However, please buckle up, WilliamC. Remember, it's not just the crazy people in your car you have to worry about.

I never really understood why people wouldn't wear seat belts. I hear all these PSAs about how we should buckle up, it's the law. I always felt this money was wasted considering every car built after 1995 has a built in beeper that goes off if someone doesn't use their seat belt. Maybe it does help to have the billboards and PSAs though.

It took a long time to get seatbelt usage commonly accepted in the US. It was introduced in the 50s and it didn't break 50% usage until the 80s.

You really shouldn't have to. If I'm remembering right, the most conservative rule of thumb is if you could easily find five reference books with that fact in your local library, you don't have to cite it. And that's really conservative.

Should be easy, though: http://unstats.un.org/unsd/demographic/ ... able03.pdf

thanks. thats what i thought. he is a citation freak. it seems like it is all he cares about. and plus i already have a citation at the end of the paragraph that includes that information. a source, which if i am remembering correctly, has that information in it.

When in doubt, cite. More footnotes+longer bibliography=higher grades.

But I think the rule of thumb with things like that is if you can find the same fact in three separate sources, you need not cite it.

I almost always put it on on the highway but when you're rolling around a residential neighborhood or city blocks at 15 mph, fuck it. I hate that damn beeping. gotta get Ron Paul on that
