the rule used to be that to remit via a credit card, the recipient had to be a "business" member. Not sure if it's changed though.

Yeah, looks like it's a little more lenient (and costly):

Sending Money to Friends and Family in the US:

•FREE when you use your bank account or PayPal balance
When you use a credit or debit card, the cost is 2.9% of the total amount sent plus $0.30 USD per transaction. When you log in, you choose whether you or the recipient covers this cost.

i'm moved in enough except for all these boxes and the mess the previous person left in the bathroom and bedroom. i'm going to be spending the next week cleaning and giving it a woman's touch (though she was a woman and i am a man)

A 900 page proof just dropped on my goddam lap with a two week deadline, totally destroying my schedule for July (which includes two copy-edits and one proofread).

Well fuck.

It's work, though. Shouldn't complain.

Fuck though.

It would definitely look that way if they requested the money, but I don't see why it wouldn't the other way either.

didja ever feel really really shallow? I've got a list of things a mile long that I need to get done- including returning 34 bags of sand to Lowe's and picking up 65 more pavers. But The Kid gets home from ESY at 1PM and his therapist/babysitter just cancelled for today because her best friend's mom died. So here there's a family out there that's lost their matriarch and I'm upset because it will put me behind on this patio project. So yeah I'm pretty shallow.

| fucking wish I could, but this is industry standard now. You folk out there think this doesn't happen all the time? Seriously, y'all are reading Game of Thrones now, one of the primo offenders in the late 90s rush of fucking massive fantasy series. See how many typos y'all come up with. A fucking dead dragon's final load after too much curry (aka a fucking shitload). I guarantee it, because when the title was re-run from hardback into mass market paperback (and while you're at it, shed a tear for the chemist who has to come up with the glue whihc will hold that many pages together in the face of repeated spine bending), the proofreader probably fucking died from driving his or nosebone into the back of their brain, because sleep overtook them and they fell forward with such violent force, the fucking pathologist was pulling fucking bone splinters out of their eardrums. And then the publisher just sighed with relief and sent it to the printer. probably even collated martin's fucking second round changes onto the bloodstained proofs, and the designer queired what the weird spidery flaxed coloured scrawls were.

Like you'd fucking notice. You're not the fucker tracking every last single DUMB BASTARD FANTASY FUCKING NAME NUMBER 5782 and making sure they're not misspelt.

So, just to clarify: if ANY OF YOU FUCKERS EVER, AND I MEAN EVER write a fucking fantasy or sf novel or literary fiction novel or historical opus, if you don't keep it within a 500 page extent in mass market paperback a format, I swear, I will kill you so painfully, preferably using paper and every available orifice you have been blessed with. I can fucking do it. I worked on books which sent freelancers to hospital and broke printer's servers. I'm not even fucking kidding. The world does not need THAT MUCH FUCKING WRITING IN ONE VOLUME.

YOU CUNTS PROBABLY JUST THINK IT WILL MAKE A FUCKING GREAT MINI SERIES, YOU COUCH-BOUND FUCKING BASTARDS.

Jesus, I used to think Vernor Vinge wrote long books. I fucking dream of books that length now.
