he gets a paper check and gets it cashed then uses cash money greenbacks for two weeks

people like him then have his parents pay his bills.

poor people use checking cashing joints and money order joints and get nickel and dimed to death

North of 60% of the 300+ well-educated engineers at unit of one of my former employers was paid, biweekly, in cash. Because they liked it that way.

The Georgetown SB Nation blog has an interview up with William Jefferson Clinton. The Good Phight should be able to pull Alito for a season preview.

I know this is true, but I've never quite understood why. I don't maintain a big balance, but I still don't pay any fees other than when I order new checks. I don't think I've ever paid to have a checking account--perhaps there was some deal where I'd avoid certain fees by having direct deposit, and that I suppose would be an issue.

I know a good liberal like myself is also supposed to be opposed to rent to own and other common scams that are perpetuated on llow income folks, but again, I really don't see why someone can't do a little quick math and understand that they're really getting shafted renting a tv for 30 bucks a week.

they cant pay the upfront fee but many have felt obligated by society to own certain items. they dont want to be looked down upon. pressure from others, pressure from themselves, leads people to bad financial decisions.

i cast no aspersions on them because i've messed up myself, as have some of the smartest and most capable people i know. it happens.

as far as checking cashing and such, some cannot get accounts for various reasons.

I was thinking about this the other day, more along the lines of driver licenses. In NJ, you need "6 points" of various documents. I had the flyer in front of me, and was scrambling because I couldn't find my new SS card or marriage license, and my passport has expired. In the digital age, I don't have paper bank statements. In the end, I found my SS card, and brought our water/sewer bill just in case. Which was good, because I found out my birth certificate is useless without my marriage license. And since I was renewing before the license expired, it was worth more "points".

But I was thinking about single apartment dwellers and what they must go through.

good question. i hate when i have to fax things to people. i normally have to go to my moms work or to staples and pay for it. little known fact, they were invented before the telephone.

In Ace Ventura, when Ace saves everyone by returning the white bat, the bad guy is there and trying to squeak by the tribes without being noticed. Then the guy yells out some phrase I couldn't possible spell (sounds like Ih quetcha atyu) and they begin to run after him. How the hell does he get away from them? They're skinny Africans who lived in the jungle all their life. He is white and in a business suit.

that's an EXCELLENT question. My wife's office manager REFUSES to use email. She sends patient charts via fax, and all doctors must FAX patient order back to the office (they're a house call group). So if you're following along, instead of just emailing the orders into the office from the road, at the end of the day the docs have to follow up with everything. Online fax services help somewhat, but add an unnecessary step.

And my job- in a mystery of modern inefficiency-requiresorder admins to print and fax our orders to corporate. Baffling.

one time i was watching our neighbors turtle. i bought the wrong bedding for it, he had some reaction and died. the next week, get in my car, drive not five feet, run over a turtle, dead. 13 years since then, zero turtle incidents. you can't make this stuff up.
