Houshphandzadeh wrote:It's not necessarily their fault. I used to live in an apartment with electric heat; our bills in the winter were always upwards of 200 and our place was still cold. PECO doesn't accept "WTF?!??! it can't possibly be this expensive!!" as an argument.

Bill McNeal wrote:Back in the day, I lived with 2 dudes, we split up the bills, I paid the heat, and the other dude paid electric and the other dude paid the cable/internet. It worked out pretty well until winter, I was the first person to leave for work every morning, I'd turn the thermostat down before I left, the dude who paid for the electric started turning the heat up WHEN HE LEFT FOR WORK. He was the last one to leave so he would turn the heat up to like 75 WHILE THE HOUSE WAS EMPTY. I didn't know this until the $400 bill came ( I was working a second job from Thanksgiving to Christmas so I didn't get home until late at night) I got pissed off and told him if he wanted to eff with the heat like that then he could pay for it. So he agreed, and I took over the electric. He then put a lock box over the thermostat so me and the other roomie couldn't adjust the temp. like 2 days after he put the lock on it his girlfriends cat got sick and they had to take it to some dumbass cat hospital out of town for a weekend, he left the heat on 50 while he was away. So I moved out. I showed him.
****Epilogue****
The ass-bag in this story later went on to marry his girlfriend I mentioned in the story, and then several years later he was arrested for animal cruelty, he had apparently beaten and severely injured / killed several of his then g/f and now wife's cats with golf clubs. The news story said that the original cat, the one from the story, was his first victim and he claimed his innocence in the news story blaming it on his roommate who up and moved out (me) right after the incident occurred. The police rightly saw through his ruse as the cat didn’t live at the house when I did, and the abuse continued for years after I moved out. Moral of the story, #$&! that guy.
