I have no motivation to do anything today. I'm sitting here in front of a blank Word document, and it's going to stay blank if this keeps up. Ugh.

So here's a worst-of-all-worlds moment: I'm currently on a conference call for the job I've been hired for but can't start yet because of some city bureaucratic hurdle, listening to a briefing on another event that I wasn't a part of and probably won't be much involved with when I do start, and everybody on the call is either too loud or too quiet in my ear.

OTOH, it's nice to be still in my robe at almost 2 on a weekday.

1) I joined twitter today. I am following 53 people, and I get so much political and sports news instantaneously it's amazing. I have four followers, three of whom I don't know, and the fourth is the Fightins, so I don't really actually know them either. So that part is a little creepy, and I'm going without a last name. I don't know if I'll ever actually tweet things. Why tweet when I can post in random thoughts?

2) I have not had an alcoholic beverage for 163.5 hours or so. This is probably my longest spell of not drinking since sophomore year of college. It might all end tonight, or I might stay strong till the weekend. I can't wait to find out which path I take.

i have some weird mental inclination for what's appropriate for Facebook status, what's appropriate for Twitter, and what's appropriate for Random Thoughts. often it's none of the above. i should get a journal for those moments.

Am I the only person here not on Facebook? I got a call from my uncle last night and he told me my cousin was going to Haiti later this month to do volunteer work and was raising money. I texted her today to ask how I could kick in some dough, and she said she'd Facebook me the info when she got home, upon which point I had to cop to not being on there.

It's become one of those perverse points of pride, but maybe I should just yield to the peer pressure and accept that some dolts from high school will know that I still draw breath.

edit: I sort of do feel that BSG fills whatever need I might otherwise have for Facebook.

It might be within the realm of possibility that you are an alcoholic. I'm no doctor though. I'd ask drsmooth.

I'd say it is more of a stretch than more than doable. I just went about week without drinking for no real reason, watched plenty of people imbibe without any real longing for a beer. Even if I get into a rut drinking four or five nights in a row, it's not like I ever find myself wanting to have a drink with lunch or in the middle of the afternoon, and I could given the fact that I work 10 feet from the liquor cabinet. But then again I have no idea what makes someone technically an alcoholic. Binge drinking is apparently having something like 5 or more drinks in a night, so by that definition I binge drink on at least a weekly basis.

Also I'd argue if anything I would be a drunk, because alcoholics go to meetings.
