Which, of course, is a nutrient.

Yeah I was thinking about posting pictures on Sunday night when drunk in the player's wives thread. Actually for all I know, I did. Let's go check. Nope.

There's a player's wives thread?

I started eating brown rice instead of white a year ago and never looked back. Brown rice is just better.

I think doing this thing for a while and then taking the train to my parents' is probably the best way to go about all this.

I like brown basmati rice quite a bit, but white jasmine rice is the bomb

No, it takes a lot longer.

I feel pretty dumb asking this, but can you cook it in the same rice cooker? just takes longer?

As discussed in the cooking thread, I don't use a rice cooker, so I don't really know. Probably you could ask the google.

Pretty much in terms of method. It takes longer though.

And, for that spanish rice effect--try a can Ro-Tel (drained) instead of jarred spaghetti sauce. And a can of beans never hurts rice.

Here's a pretty easy and cheap dinner:

Brown sliced kielbasi, or any other similar sausage in a little oil with a chopped onion. Add a can or two of drained beans. Add a can of drained Ro-Tel if you want. Or don't. Season with whatever you like--I use thyme and oregano from my garden, plus cumin and chili powder, black pepper and salt. Serve with brown rice.

There's a ton of potential variation here--you can use substitute bacon or salt pork or lots of thing for the meat, or go meatless.

Some rice cookers have a brown rice setting. I've never tried making brown rice in a rice cooker without that setting, so I couldn't tell you.
