Maybe I don't want to go back to the days when having a child out of wedlock was a shameful thing, but as a parent I really don't need this so-called defenders of family values parading a girl as a celebrity whose only accomplishment is to get knocked up.

Maybe she and Beck could get paired up. Ms. Palin is an interesting case. She is almost 20, has her own condo in Anchorage tbut has returned to the family base in Wassilla after dropping out of community college (so it would seem) and has culled her annoying family into being a poor, homely version of Paris Hilton who is famous for being herself. Maybe she and Beck can dance together. Incidentally, is going on dancing with the C list stars really a role model for anything? ? I kind of feel bad for her as even with the cards she has been dealt, she is handicapped into endless bad decision options.

The good news is she seems to be doing just fine with her lobbying company (BSMP LLC) who's first client was an Organization Promoting Abstinence and her speaking engagements ($15-30K/engagement).

Side note: If you are wondering, I am not a fan of Olbermann either, but at least I can respect that he has not (yet) hard a public rally for himself.

From Wikipedia:

"At the time of the American Revolution, Catholics formed 1.6% of the population of the thirteen colonies."

Sourced from:

Middleton, 95-100, 145, 158, 159, 349n. Also see Maynard, 126-126. According to Lanning, American colonists numbered 2,350,000 in 1776. Of the total white population, only 600,000 men were elegible to bear arms. Michael Lee lanning, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION 100 (Napierville, Ill.: Sourcebook, Inc.), 193.

My mistake was using the term "Christian" rather than "Catholic".

We'll start rolling out our Ohio poll results tomorrow but there's one finding on the poll that pretty much sums it up: by a 50-42 margin voters there say they'd rather have George W. Bush in the White House right now than Barack Obama.

Independents hold that view by a 44-37 margin and there are more Democrats who would take Bush back (11%) than there are Republicans who think Obama's preferable (3%.)

October 2008 me would have had a really hard time believing this was remotely possible.

One thing I never understood about Beck is even ignoring what he actually says, I don't see how people can watch his show.
He has a very annoying way of speaking. I guess it's different if you love him like some of his fans do, but I don't get it.

Trying to decide whether or not I should delete this thread.

The "rule" of BSG is one open politics thread at any time, that's it and that's all. That was intentional, indeed much-argued over. The reason was to minimize, ideally eliminate, the sort of kalasfan-v.-EastFallowfield shit shows that so often characterized philliesphans.com. Granted we don't really have straight-up partisan drones like those guys here, and in fact it seems we all basically agree about Glenn Beck (and the Goldfinger pic was kinda tits), but still.

Maybe I should start a poll...

Yeah, but your response is to the whole "Christian Nation" crap, and those people assuredly don't mean Catholic when they say Christian.
