After 4 years on the service, I may have actually found a productive use of the poking feature on Facebook.

On Sunday, I was at a spring training game and noticed a cute woman, so I went over to talk to her in the middle of the 8th inning. The conversation was going fairly well, but she mentioned that she needed to leave to beat the traffic in the middle of the 9th inning. Being very green to hitting on women, I asked her out on a date (rather than asking her for her number--screw up #1) and she said "no." So, I offered my number (screw up #2), and she said "sure" entering it into her phone before leaving.

Obviously, she hasn't called, but I learned enough about her to easily find her profile on Facebook. Thing is, if I send a message and/or friend her, it'll probably be too strong of a move and drive her away. However, the poke in this situation is much more innocuous, saying "I remember you," and leaving my intention much more in doubt.

if you think steagles is creepy here, just imagine him with that technology.
if you don't know what the wrestlers are trying to do--how certain moves and holds are supposed to work and so forth, then it might just look like too sweaty guys rolling around on a mat.

Oh. I'm replying to a Steagles post. Um. OK.

Putting my 5 game Streak for Cash on the line with Georgetown again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me fifteen times, shame on me.

You "poke" someone when they haven't updated their status in a while. It's the way of saying "hey, im thinking of you and was wondering what you were up to" without actually saying it to them. If you get poked, update your status.
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

Really? I thought it meant you were supposed to unfriend whoever did it.

I want to be like that guy who makes a living saying things like "EA Sports, it's in the game!"

I think I could do it.

Voiceover people make a lot of money. After the 2006 elections one of the people my firm used a lot bought everyone in the office, even little old me, a handle of Maker's Mark.

wii tennis elbow is REAL

and it reared its ugly head tonight when i was taking batting practice in preparation for the softball league i'm playing in this year. on the plus side, there's no way i'll be exerting myself as repeatedly in an actual game as i do in practice.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

I would like to be able to fall asleep before two without the aid of alcohol or NyQuil. Perhaps if I added any semblance of activity into my life I would get tired like a normal person at a reasonable hour. Not resetting my alarm every morning to sleep till 10 probably wouldn't hurt either.

Quitting drinking, or at least cutting down a lot, would probably help too.
