Obama is leaning towards DC lawyer (and another person tied to the Clinton Administration) Eric Holder as his AG:

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/11/sen_wayne_bryant_found_guilty.html

State Senator Wayne Bryant found guilty of bribery and mail and wire fraud or some such misdeeds.

I hope you're all sitting down for this next bit of news...he was a Camden County Democrat. Shocking.

Do you think this will hurt his chances for re-election?

It's almost more interesting, and probably rarer, when a New Jersey Democrat isn't breaking the law in some way. I remember hearing when I was a kid that something like five of the previous seven Atlantic City mayors had been sent to prison; while I don't know that they were all Dems, it seems like a reasonable guess.

He hasn't actually been a senator since 2007. The Camden Dem Organization didn't renominate him since he lost his chairmanship of the Senate Budget Committee.

Rush Holt is probably on the up and up. And Corzine already did his crimes.

Well, that's a lot worse than a little wire fraud, don't you think?

Oh how you exaggerate. It's only five in the last forty years that have been convicted, and some of them didn't even do time. I believe the three Camden mayors out of the last five that have been convicted have all been sent to the slammer, though.

Dick Morris tried to make the case that 'the Clintons' don't have foreign experience. First, 'the Clintons' weren't hired, Hillary Clinton was. Second, HUH?! Let's take his false premise of both being hired...she's made many trips abroad and talked with many heads of state, was on the Committee of Armed Services and Commission dealing directly with Europe. Bill isn't qualified though, he's right. Leader of the Free World(tm) for 8 years doesn't lend itself to much fostering of foreign experience.

What a pitiful hack.

I also like hearing all these talking heads laboring on and on about Obama picking former Clinton administration fellas, as though they won't be 'loyal' to him and it'll create a lot of strife and a possible mutiny. These are people that view politics as a game to be won or lost and I dismiss them out of hand. They also may have been disloyal in previous roles themselves, and are quite possibly projecting.

I am actually surprised how well a lot of people I know are taking the Obama election. Not that I was expecting people to be jumping off of bridges but it is a pleasant surprise.

Personally I have always thought Obama was ok. I do like listening to the guy talk. I think I might be starting to like him.

McCain is running for reelection in 2010. Good news for us. Napolitano would have been favored to win an open seat there.

Sounds like Gates might stay on. It would be nice if we started edging back toward broad foreign policy consensus; all it takes is telling the neocons to go fuck themselves, which would be richly deserved.

HAHA Wow! I laughed pretty hard at that transcript. Who the hell is that guy and why is he such an ass? I live how he calls Ayers and the plagiarism deal "issues" of the campaign. How are you supposed to answer those freaking questions? If you get them "right" then you believe you voted for a lying terrorist. If you get them "wrong", apparently you are an uneducated pinhead.

Oh and the "Tina Fey Effect"? Ha.

Ambinder offers a "provocation"that makes the best case I've seen for the Democrats' sacrificial offering of gonads to Lieberman--putting the onus on Obama and framing the outcome as the tone-setting move of a presidential coalition-builder.

I don't think I quite buy it, but that certainly could be a result of my loathing for that sanctimonious POS blocking out rational analysis. It also might be because I'm not sure that even someone of Obama's political talents can really "change the tone" after 20 years of Bushes and Clintons and a media culture that's fundamentally invested in the politics of feces-chucking. But he's probably earned the benefit of even this deep a doubt.

Obama keeps talking about reading Lincoln. I think he sees the present environment as similar to the division Lincoln had to deal with. So I think he's making an effort to bring people together. Unfortunately, something tells me the neocons don't have the honor our southern brothers had after the Civil War. You can't govern with people who don't believe in government.

I'm sorry but this is a really dumb post. Thank God for your party you are no longer the type that is the loudest voice. Now only if my party could at least do something about the fringe nutcases that make everyone else look stupid.

Monkeyboy, you are three pills short of joboggi. Any half intelligent person on your side of the political spectrum would dismiss everything you say off as something a really ignorant or just plain stupid person would say.

I am glad for the Democrats that the dumbass voice was silenced a little bit. But there is still an echo from classy dumbasses like you.

Open your liberal heart up and let a little love flow in and stop your premeditated bitching.
