Isn't Murtha a hack politician who became a kind of darling of the left because he had been a marine and then opposed the the Iraq war?

If Murtha manages to lose because he's a freaking idiot that keeps calling the people in his district racist while the Dems are picking up 20+ seats nationally, that'd be a silver lining I can grab on to election night.

Can we all agree that Murtha is a big dope and deserves to be fired?

I'll cross the aisle and join you guys for that one. Murtha's basically a crook.

I appreciate that he took a stance against the war (eventually) but he is corrupt. I don't want corrupt Democrats in power any more than I want corrupt Republicans. If the Dems pick up a bunch of seats AND lose guys like Mahoney and Murtha, then I think that is a win-win for the Democrats.

And in that same spirit, when it comes to the Ted Stevens, Don Youngs, Mark Foleys, etc., I say throw those bums out as well.

Put William "Icebox" Jefferson in that mix as well.

Foley resigned the day after that story broke in 2006.

And this face carving thing is going to be a big story I think.

Silver has Franken at 54% over Coleman.

Is that a big surprise? I feel like when I looked two months ago, Coleman was at like 58%

If McCain were to win Pennsylvania...would it matter? Pennsylvania is a changing state where there are now one million more Democrats than Republicans. Older Pennsylvanians hold vastly different views than younger Pennsylvanians. Pennsylvania is becoming less and less vital to national politics. The majority of the growth in the state comes from the Democratic areas of the state.

If McCain wins, it's an abberation and likely won't happen again. This all-out campaign by the Republicans to try and retake PA seems fruitless, when they should be trying to build in states like North Carolina and Indiana...or else this will all repeats itself in those states eventually.
