When I saw that ad, I had an audible, involuntary, sharp intake of breath.
I'm afraid you're just too darn loud.

Amen to that. Bad baseball and contentious political arguments are a toxic combo.

I just walked away from the computer until they mentioned in the Mets game that it was 10-8 with the tying runs on base. Of course, then they didn't get the runs in and the fucking Mets went ahead again. Cruel tease.

It's really a disgrace what politics has come to. And how people come to choose the person they vote for. I really would prefer:

*proportional representation
*1st 2nd 3rd choice, and none of the above and instant run-off
*parliamentary system with a prime minister
*no supreme court appts for life

The scrutiny these people are under and the silliness and distortion game -- say what you will do. say who will be part of your team and let's vote on policies, not perceived "experience" and "values" and all this stuff up to interpretation and distortions. I think McCain and his cabinet gets us something a lot more like what we've had for 8 years than Obama, but they can just spin and say anything and the media is more than imcompetent they are complicity and partof the game.

I'm really looking to move abroad for a few years... get some perspective....

I'm begging you guys to consider your audience and the limits of their ability to suspend disbelief. We just can't find it in ourselves to believe you're that broken-up or surprised by presidential campaign ads.

Stiff upper lip fellas.

Save the "coming unhinged act" for the stolen election and recounts.

Interesting take. I, for one, am pleasantly surprised at how financially competitive McCain has been able to remain with Obama. Combined with the relatively unchanged nature of the map, this is one big reason why I'm more optimistic about McCain's chances than I was a couple of months ago.

It wont matter. Both sides have what theu need. The RNC can raise at will and advertise for Mccain anyways. If the Phillies run 1000 commercials and the Flyers run only 56 to try and get people to an event then the Phillies win that batlte. If the Phillies run 89,000 and the Flyers run "only" 72,300 then it is moot. Both sides have saturated the airwaves and it comes down to the message.

If it matters at all, it matters in the sense that Obama opted out after saying he wouldnt.

I can't find confirmation that he actually said this to a teachers union but if he did kudos to Obama for delivering a message to a group that likely didn't welcome it.

That means setting a firm standard -- teachers who are doing a poor job will get extra support, but if they still don't improve, they'll be replaced.

The AFT is part of the base of the Democratic Party. A Democrat telling them there are bad teachers and getting behind performance pay is courageous. What's next? Proposing caps on civil suits?

I agree but I think Obama is definitely smart enough to realize that there is no good that could come of him comparing Palin to a pig. I don't think it was intentionally directed at her though it might seem like it given her words at the convention.

It was a dumb choice of words though. It's a common phrase and I think he was referring to Republican viewpoints in general.
Do it again!
