This is a Democratic concept that I don't get. Are we interested in punishing the Party that is perceived to have gotten us into this mess or actually getting us out of the mess? America doesn't owe it to the Democrats because the Republicans messed up. They actually need to sell America they have solutions. The Democratic platform of "We're not Republicans" worked in 2006 but eventually America will want to know what you're offering. That's why the "vote for Obama because McCain is in the same party as Bush" campaign isn't working.

Please provide the context. Obama ads are known for taking quotes from the past and acting like McCain said them yesterday.
There may be people voting against Obama due to racism, but how many? By my estimates Obama will likely get at least 14 million African-American votes, up from Kerry's 9 million. While Bush got about 11% of African-American votes, McCain is projected to get 2%. If you're a Black Republican you wouldn't dream of going Democratic otherwise. And then there's the voter increase of Democrats who never bothered voting for a white guy. I've met several white people who want to vote for the black guy to show America is progressive and post-racial. They have already been Obama voters, but I'm sure he'll pick up some votes there.
The racists may cost Obama Pennsylvania but being black may win him North Carolina or Virginia.
