You know how this makes you look, right? I just wanted to make sure that was the effect you were going for.

I didn't think it was a great speech, but I wasn't expecting a great speech. My wife was somewhat upset because she thought it was effective. I think it showed the characteristic mean-spiritedness (how do you attack community organizers? Was that just coded racism? Granted, I doubt there's a community organizer alive who's a Republican, but still--you just don't choose to do that unless you've got a pretty big heart) and intellectual vacuity ("drill baby drill"? really?) of the Republicans.

Something I read today, can't remember where right now, was that unlike Bush in '04, McCain can't win this election simply by mobilizing the base--though he has to do that. Palin, a faith-based selection if ever there was one, obviously excites the hardcore Republicans. She obviously turns off the hardcore Democrats. I don't think she draws the independents and marginal Democrats, whom McCain needs to win, particularly after Obama's pretty good DNC effort to bring those people home.

Well you guys (FlightRisk and Woody) better get a move on. Because Obama is one pay-phone call away from, "...showing these people a world without you (us). A world without rules and controls, borders and boundaries. A world where anything is possible..."
"...and all of this, this bull5hit you (we) thing is so important, you (all y'all) can just kiss all that goodbye!"

Also, seems like they can take the gloves off of Biden, and should make for a good debate. And while he may beat her up on some issues, I wouldn't be surprised if she handles her own. This girl is no wallflower.
That is why Biden is going to have a tough time. She is no wallflower at all, but if he treats her like one(which I think he might because he don't want to look like a dickhead and have people saying look at how he treats this lady) he is going to be TKO in the first couple rounds.
I think that was part of the strategy and I kind of like it. He can't treat her like a wallflower, but he might be forced into it due to the voters mindset.
It's a win-win either way.
so to you it's not what they debate about, it's HOW they debate it.
direct hit.
but sadly, that probably is worth more votes in this country.
Direct hit how?
i assumed that your "she's not a wallflower" point was showing that she has an aggresive style that voters werent aware.
she didnt prove (or attempt to prove) any kind of expertise or grasp on issues that might be debated with joe biden... and you didnt appear to care or think that matters to the voter.
and i sadly agreed with you on that last point. but also think its pretty revealing...

Michael Smerconish has basically been saying the same thing since the announcement of Palin
A savvy GOP consultant asks a timely question after Palin's speech:
Who's most bummed?
Obama?
Biden?
Mitt?
Huck?
Damn that was good.

Probably we're both wrong then. That guy's a dimwit.

$#@! you, Sarah Palin.

So who's tougher, Lancaster or Lebanon? I vote Lebanon.

I'm fairly sure that "Traditional Denominational Christian" is an area that doesn't have a lot of concern for either party.
