Random Thoughts: Eye Vee

Postby mickbayne » Wed Mar 19, 2008 22:24:12

Each time I've done most of the work myself (with the help of friends with trucks). I've managed to make it work by narrowing down my personal belongings to pretty much just clothes and electronics. I signed a 7 month lease for this new apartment. The idea is to buy some time until I'm out of my lease at the apartment in NC (which will coincidentally be right around the same time my new lease ends here), and then buy a home in Seattle.
Another day, another box of stolen pens.

Um, the amount a mover charges depends on how much crap you're moving, and how far you're going to move it.

The downside to using movers is that you've got to be really thorough in your packing unless you pay the movers to pack your crap too. Movers won't take your laundry basket full of shoes and throw it on a truck.

That would unbalance the league actually. There would be an interleague match-up every single series.

would that really be a problem? they could still have the same number of total interleague games with room for a couple all-interleague weekends.

I tried working on this before. Having an odd number of teams in a league means that one team would have an off day every day, or you'd have to play interleague games the whole season. Can't do it. They should just contract 2 teams (Twins and Astros) and go 14 x 2

They'll add two before they ever contract any

Moving is no fun. The good news--when you're still moving from apartment to apartment, the overall size of the apartment helps to limit your overall amount of stuff. The first time you move from a house--it's amazing how much stuff you accumulate. And, at least for me, packing provides the ultimate sense of clarity on why it's a good idea to TOSS or give away anything and everything you don't love or use all the time. Good luck with the move!

I hate moving with a passion. Anytime I've moved, there's come a point where i've always said 'HOW MANY POXY BOOKS?'. Also, in edinburgh, you're always on at least the 1st floor when you move. Always fun.

On the plus side, working with the book festival has at least taught me to move properly. Spreadsheet+Clear labelling on boxes regarding content and future location=calmer move. Never knew that when I was younger.

only took 18 1/2 hours to get down here, despite all the rain as well as traffic around DC and Tampa

(found out later that the Tampa traffic was a gaper delay due to a car going off the bridge into the bay... yikes)

When Arrested Development was on TV, I had only seen a few minutes of the show here and there. The entire series is on Hulu and I've watched like half of it in the past few days. I realize I'm late to the party as usual, but what a great show.

Bonefish Grill is amazing. I had a networking diner at the one in Willow Grove last night and it was the best seafood I've had in a long time. Hard to believe it's a chain.
