Mets at Phillies, Game 1: 6/29/07

Postby dajafi » Fri Jun 29, 2007 14:03:35

Goddammit. This game reminds me of the Bucs-Eagles playoff game from a few years ago: great start, then... splat.

But it's early yet.

dump him. useless schmuck.

Normally you wouldn't get upset about that but Delgado is so bad this year he is an expected out in the lineup.

Except the Eagles were heavy favorites in that game and the Phillies have a pitcher who has given up 2 runs in 1 inning and lowered his ERA.

My favourite (and only) Ricky Ledee story. After he started out hot and hyped for the yankees, the fans there realised that he wasn't great after all, and used to taunt him as follows:

Riiiiicky . . . .

Riiiiicky . . . .

YOU SUCK.

In a conference championship it is. Add in that Philly eliminated Tampa 2 years in a row before that and had won I think 4 straight games against them and it was a real shocker losing that game. Not many rational people would favor the Phillies in this game or series considering the pitching matchups so I don't see the similarities.

I didn't say it was a perfect comparison, just how it felt to me.
