i'm still on board. while the big free agents and trading all your picks is fun theater it also results in not winning a cup for 40 years. he's building something pretty great - actual d prospects, a handful of goalies and a couple forwards. now that snider is dead they can afford to be patient and that's how you build a monster.

Its a bad club. The pressure to get a SC winner before Snider died put the team in a tough spot. Expensive patches on holes that needed better fixes. Lack of patience with young players. Would like to have Sergei Bobrovsky and JVR here instead of Mason and the remnants of Luke Schenn.
I like what Hextall has done to refurbish the farm system. Hakstol has a record of bringing young talent up to NHL standards so I'm willing to give him some slack.
Right now its the veterans that are killing the club with their poor play. The GM really dealt the coach a bad hand this season by sticking him with as many players on the end of their deals that he did. Maybe Hextall thought that they'd play hard for their next contract but instead several of them have laid down like dogs. Additionally giving Schenn that 5$M per deal had to be a crusher in the locker room. That he's getting more than Simmonds is a joke. Hextall may have to sit down with some of these guys at the end of the season and see if they want to remain here or be moved along. I'm sure that he isn't happy with what is going on out on the ice and won't allow it to repeat itself again.

I've watched less than ten games this year, and that's consistent with the amount of time I've dedicated to the team over the last three or four years.

Like someone said, you can't be bad and boring.

I am tired of the continual lack of scorers on this team. When was the last time we had a true sniper on the wing?

I was very skeptical of Hextall when he was hired due to seemingly endless nepotism that existed when Snider was alive. Hextall has lived up to my expectations.

I'd trade Giroux in a heartbeat at this point. Couturier can be traded for a puck bag and I'll be satisfied. The goalies remain terrible, and the third and fourth lines remain a jumbled collection of no skills, no toughness and no identity.

Actually, you could say that about the entire team.

I'm not sure about that. I genuinely think he and Hakstol think they are a upper echelon team that can consistently play with anyone.

Another bad deal but that one is on Holmgren and he admitted it at the STH meeting this week.

Yeah, but he's a top 3 NHL defenseman per Hakstol.

well my main point was i don't think the locker room is crushed that schenn makes a little more than simmonds. if simmonds were up for free agency this past offseason, he'd be making more.

Did the math last night and I think they're 7-15 since the 10-game losing streak if you just go by W-L and not OT points. That's... not good.

He was out during the entire long win streak, so that's going to skew things a bit

15-18-6 with
11-4-1 without

losing already

or not. fairly weak interference call overturns it.

mentioned during pregame and it's hard to believe, but we haven't beaten San Jose at home in 16+ years (9 games)
