I have a Vicks one too, but it uses Vapo Pads rather than liquid. It helps a lot, but you have to stay on top of cleaning it, or it gets really gross.

ii almost feel like throwing out my daughter's humidifier every month and buying a new one bc they are such a pain in the ass to keep clean

Yeah they always do it a week or so before or after to throw people off. I remember one year it said Penn was buying Drexel's gym because engineers don't exercise anyway.

listening to a translation of a French press briefing on the Airbus crash, pretty neat

Rather than getting a bored, middle-aged professional sounding person to translate, MSNBC's using what sounds like a reasonably intelligent & engaged 17-year-old valley girl. She's doing a great job, but the contrast between the image and body language of the middle-aged white guy delivering the briefing and the vocabulary and intonation of the girl translator startles
