I realize you guys hate Hartnell and Hextall could have traded him for a bag of pucks with a 5m cap hit and you would've said "GREAT WORK CHAIRMAN", but I think this move is a bigger loss that you do.
You do realize he scored 18 goals, 8 power play goals last year, playing on a much less talented line compared to Giroux and Voracek, right? He also killed penalties.
Hartnell had so many junk points just from being on the top line. Hartnell was demoted to the 3rd line during the playoffs.

Sam Carchidi @BroadStBull
Hexy says there are 4 candidates as top LW: B.Schenn, Raffl, Umberger and Vinny

I just think he's getting a bum rap on here, they traded him for a guy who is definitely a caliber below Hartnell right now, and it's not a "great trade" in the slightest. At best, it's cap relief three years down the line, but they traded a better player for a lesser player right now.

Umberger scored 18 goals last year, Hartnell 20. I bet Umberger can give similar production on this team, especially since they led the league in 20 goal scorers last year.

Flyers don't think Hartnell is either. I prefer a 3rd line guy that can kill penalties and doesn't live in the box.
