Just need one win and a Devils regulation loss to clinch a playoff spot. Flyers hold the tiebreaker with Columbus, but do not with the Rangers.

It's beyond being stupid. It's selfish. He takes all of these penalties which puts the team on the PK and runs down their energy. I wonder how many of his team mates are happy killing off his penalties? Mason lost his SO on the major. The guy is useless.
Playing with grit is good and helps a team. Playing dumb like Rinaldo does costs.

Yeah, with his history I was thinking seven to ten. The hit was moronic and he deserves to be suspended. I appreciate what he brings in terms of hitting, forechecking, energy, etc. but I really wonder if all of that is worth the cost of the stream of stupid penalties this guy takes. I would bet money he ends up costing us at least one playoff game with some ill-timed charging penalty or the like.

Just looking at Ville Leino's career. He has a total of 40 regular season goals, 19 came in 2010-11 with the flyers. He has 0 goals and 15 assists in 56 games this year and is a minus 16. All that for a 4.5mil cap hit for the next 3 years.

Christian Ehroff tweeted a pic of his ear after getting hit with the puck in last nights game.

Not to defend Rinaldo's hit, but he's been a lot better this year in terms of stupid penalties, he may be 4th in the league in PIM, but his number is down drastically from the last full season when he was an obvious liability. Right now I think his contribution outweighs his occasional questionable judgment call. He's a skater who can get under the skin of the opposing team and draw penalties.

I really wish there were a stat for that btw. I think Rinaldo would rate pretty well.

It is a phone hearing so 5 games is the max he can get.

after reading the internet i expected it to be some horrible, horrible hit. was pretty tame. 2-3 games should suffice.

IDK, the hit was unnecessary; he left his feet to make it and hit the guy with an elbow in the head. I suspect that he'll get five and be told that the next time he does something like this, he'll be in the Downie range for games lost as a punishment.

yeah it was a dumb play up 4-0. guy was in the shooting motion which made it easier to hit his head. fine with 2-3 games but there have been many worse hits this year that didn't get a hefty suspension or any at all. if they go off things he did two years ago, that's on shanahan.

You know Shanahan. Stuff from the past will matter. So will being a Flyer. Now if Rinaldo was a Penguin, no problem.

I agree with you rp. I thought when I watched it live it didn't look like he was trying to drill him in the head. The shooter was leaning forward and Ronaldo had a bad angle on him so he stuck out his arm and jumped at him to try to impact his shot, but he was late and out of position and got him in the head. Deserves to be suspended for it IMO, but it wasn't an intentional head hunting hit.

Except the guy got a concussion, Rinaldo has a history, and already had a charging call in the game. Also, he plays for the Flyers.
