Astrodome

:ce:

A $217 million bond measure to fund a massive Astrodome renovation failed by several percentage points, a decision expected to doom it to the wrecking ball.

Proposition 2 would have allowed Harris County to issue up to $217 million in bonds to turn the beloved but bedraggled stadium into a massive event and exhibition center. In complete but unofficial results, opponents gained 53 percent of the vote.

County commissioners have said they would recommend the wrecking ball if the bond failed.

"We're going to have to do something quick," County Judge Ed Emmett said afterward. "We can't allow the once-proud dome to sit like a rusting ship in the middle of a parking lot."

the expos on deck circle fetched $2500 at auction the other day. guess that'd be kind of cool to have in the basement.

I'd love to have something like that. Not $2500 worth of love, but... well, like. I'd like to have something like that.

SABR Defensive Index results for 2013. This is the first year the SDI was used in helping select Gold Glove winners, sometimes to more effect than others. Cutting to the chase, Ruiz was 6 out of 14 qualifying, Utley 7/11, MYoung 12/12, Rollins 11/11, Brown 8/8, Mayberry 9/13, Lee and Hamels 13 and 32 out of 44. No qualifying Phillies at 1st or CF.

Full results.

Not sure if it was mentioned already, but supposedly Harold Reynolds is the leading candidate to replace McCarver. hmm

The Cubs will have an alternate road uniform that looks like a modernized version of this:

They're also planning to wear throwbacks for every Sunday home game and the road teams are likely to participate, so the Phils could be wearing these uniforms that day:

That will be handy since most of the Phillies still have those in their closets.
