Maybe they approached Werth about a contract and he either wanted a ton or wanted to test the FA market. They then immediately extended Howard.

I wonder if there will be a no-trade clause.

Dislike. I was really hoping Howard would move on as a free agent. I would be okay with a five year deal starting now but no way do I want to see him signing until his late 30's.
