Corey Seidman today got into a twitter dispute with a guy over whether the Phillies should have non-tendered Kendrick. Without rehashing that whole argument... I'm wondering what kind of deal he'd pull down as a free agent right now.

One year for something like $6-7m plus an option? Two years at a lower AAV? Vargas money? Feldman money? I honestly have no idea. My gut that he sucks doesn't seem to fit with how much value teams evidently place on guys who can make 30 starts.

I think there is very little doubt he would get Feldman money. Somewhere around 3/27. Feldman was certainly coming off the better year but his track record is essentially on par with Kendrick.

Having just looked at the three of them, I think I agree. Kendrick has a slightly better career OPS+ than Vargas and slightly worse than Feldman. He's also a year younger.

This isn't to say that he would "deserve" such a deal, or that Seidman (whose argument boils down to "they should have non-tendered KK, signed another Hernandez type for $2.5m less, and used that money to get someone like Scott Downs) is wrong. But I think you're correct that his market would be like theirs.

The main takeaway is that Kendrick is tradeable.

The amazing thing is that KK will probably make over $50 million during his career. He has a lot of time left.
