no he doesn't. it's a homerun, sorry.

As part of their franchise overhaul next year, the Astros are considering removing Tal's Hill and the train above left field

They're tearing down Ray Winder Field in Little Rock, former home of the Arkansas Travelers and until they moved to their shiny new stadium across the river, it was one of the oldest professional ball parks left.

It's not a huge loss--it was old, it was run down, it didn't have a whole lot of charm but you could get the oil can size of Foster's Lager for like 4 or 5 bucks.

The stadium itself is gone but it's still a ballfield and I believe they kept the original dugouts and offices.

I know a lot of us don't like the Sutton/Grace team in Arizona, but this is the dumbest thing ever:

Did some quick research since the Phils will probably be in last place at the All-Star break. Since the split to six divisions and the addition of the wildcard in 1994, here's the list of teams that were in 4th or 5th place at the All-Star break and went on to make the playoffs:

1995 Yankees = 4th place, 8.0 GB = won the wildcard
1995 Mariners = 4th (last) place, 5.0 GB = won the division, beat NY in the ALDS
2003 Marlins = 4th place, 13.0 GB - won the wildcard, won the World Series
2004 Astros = 5th place, 10.5 GB - won the wildcard, beat Atlanta in the NLDS
2007 Rockies = 4th place, 5.5 GB - won the wildcard, won the pennant
2010 Giants = 4th place, 4.0 GB - won the division, won the World Series

The only team to come back from down 10.0+ and win the division was the 2006 Twins, who were in 3rd place, 11.0 out.

I wonder if there are even more teams given that this year you only need the 5th best record

Actually, if the current rules were in place in 2007, the Tigers and Mariners would be tied for the second wild card spot. What exactly would happen under the current rules? Would they play game 163 and THEN play a one game playoff vs the #1 wild card team?

The 2006 Phillies were not in 4th or 5th place but they were only 40-47 at the break, which was the 11th best record in the NL, and they finished with the 4th best which would be good for wild card #2 (due to CHC being a weak division leader)

The 2005 Phillies were 45-44 at the break and in 4th place. They would be good for wild card #2.

The 2000 Dodgers were 44-42 and in 4th place at the break. They would have been wild card #2.

The 1996 Red Sox were 36-49 and in 4th place. They finished with 85 wins which tied them with the White Sox and Mariners for #2 wild card. This seems like our most likely comp.
