I wonder if Morse stopped doing the steroid stuff yet?
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

This is not surprising. The Phils have had a longstanding interest in Morse. In fact, they inquired about Morse’s availability in December. According to sources, the Nationals asked for Domonic Brown in return and the talks never materialized.

I wonder what the talks would be like if we enquired over Zimmerman.

Ruben: We're interested in Ryan Zimmerman, whats a reasonable offer for you?
Nats: Domonic Brown, Jon Singleton, Jared Cosart, Brody Colvin, Chase Utley, Roy Halladay, CLIFF LEE and Chooch.

So does Rube like, hang up the phone right then?
laugh?
ask if he's serious?
sit in silence?
e-mail him a funny image to express his response?

See, I never think things like this are a big deal. Teams should always shoot high. There is always a mixture of players/or money/or picks that you target but teams never begins with negations with that target. They aim higher and then go down from there until they reach what they believe is minimum value they should receive in return. If it goes beyond that limit then the deal is off.

there's quite a bit of difference between what you wrote and being straight up retarded about it.

Yea, that's a negotiating tactic. But that's like bringing a 1952 mickey mouse lunchbox to pawn stars and asking for 90,000 dollars.

So if you were the owner of a brand new 911 Turbo, and someone offered you 10K for it, would you view that as a negotiating tactic or the guy being retarded?

Yeah, maybe, I was just thinking maybe the Nats would say Brown and hoping Rube would counter with Morse and say two more Nats prospects or something like that.

I just read that Gillies charges were dropped (may be super late on that) but how is that possible?

Dom Brown is almost untouchable. I assume going after Morse is a depth type thing and the Nats should know that. Hoping they counter with morse and 2 prospects for dom brown is pretty much a way to try and shift the central idea of the trade to Dom Brown. If the Marlins wanted Francisco and the Phils said they want Mike Stanton, that's a bit silly and unrealistic right? The trade doesn't become about a depth signing for the OF, but about getting a top prospect which wasn't an offer to begin with.
I don't know, morse for dom brown just sounds retarded.

Yeah, you're super late.

There was nothing tying the bag of coke to Gillies - it wasn't found on him, but in the back of the police car; it didn't have his fingerprints; and he had no drugs in his system.

The story sounded very strange from the beginning to me. A lot of it did not add up.

Well, him being drunk and shirtless in the middle of the street really early in the morning was a little strange and might've prompted a bit more suspicion about the rest of the incident.

Would you trade Chase Utley straight up for Ryan Zimmerman? Honestly, I'd have to think long and hard about that.
