But Hamels' four-seamer has pretty significant run on it I think, meaning the cutter "cuts" relative to the fastball.

Yeah Cole's "straight" 4 seam had about 4 inches of fade. The cutter like you said had almost no horizontal movement but ended up about 5 inches lower than the 4-seam according to the Lefkowitz site. Righties hit HRs off the cutter at a high rate last year but overall it was arguably a tougher pitch vs RHB

Cutter vs RHB: 228 pitches, 23.4% whiffs, 49% GB - 7% LD - 44% FB
Cutter vs LHB: 66 pitches, 13.5% whiffs, 60% GB - 13% LD - 37% FB

It's definitely a weapon for him. If he and Chooch can tighten up the sequencing and figure out pitch patterns that work well vs certain types of hitters maybe he can improve, since he has just as many weapons to work with as any LHP in the NL not named CLIFF IMO

Also doesn't hurt that the best LH cutter artist in the sport is in the rotation with him

obviously its all relative to the other pitches, and i stated so.

but in the grand scheme of pitch movement; Hamel's cutter is about as straight as it gets.

super pumped for to see him pitch this year. the 4 spot is absolutely perfect for him.

I'd like to see the Phillies score some runs for him and Madson et., al. not blow so many leads so he wins a lot of games this year. It won't make him a better pitcher. But it would be kewl.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Also said 2.8 million were sold at this time last year. That's a big freakin difference. In conclusion, CLIFF LEE.

That's really an insane number. We only sold 3.647 mil last year, and that was good enough for 103.5% capacity.

I kept getting the yea well he would be awful in the AL East argument despite the fact that he has better K/BB numbers than Sabathia and Lester.
