we're doing this!!!
But as we reported in Wednesday's more extensive look at this situation, this saga could easily follow a parallel path to the 2007-08 Johan Santana talks, in which the price plummeted precipitously as spring training approached. If not, there's always July.
We can't trade Kendrick at this point.philliesphhan wrote:But as we reported in Wednesday's more extensive look at this situation, this saga could easily follow a parallel path to the 2007-08 Johan Santana talks, in which the price plummeted precipitously as spring training approached. This is why I think this will happen soon if the Blue Jays have any brains at all. Otherwise, say hello to Kyle Kendrick, Jamie Moyer and Doug Glanville for Roy Halladay.

Santana was traded on December 13th, lol.
INDIANAPOLIS -- If the Phillies can deal Joe Blanton and Jamie Moyer, they can meet the Blue Jays’ asking price for Roy Halladay.
The Phillies are willing to part with stud prospects Kyle Drabek and Michael Taylor and could dangle Cole Hamels, but first must find buyers for Blanton and Moyer.
Eligible for arbitration after making $5.48 million last year, Blanton shouldn’t be too difficult to move. Moyer might be impossible. He is 47, makes $6.5 million in 2010, and had a problem in November that required hospitalization stemming from a September groin surgery.
Halladay, who has a full no-trade clause, could demand a contract extension to approve a deal. Or he could play one year for the Phillies and become a free agent. The Phillies are attractive to Halladay because they spend spring training in Clearwater, Fla. which is close to his Oldsmar home.
The Angels’ package of Erick Aybar and Joe Saunders is appealing to the Blue Jays.
The Yankees remain in the picture because the Blue Jays covet catching prospect Jesus Montero, while the Red Sox appear to be fading.
Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston told the Toronto Globe & Mail that if the team does trade the ace right-hander, it should be outside the American League.
What no one knows, though, is whether Halladay is open to signing a pre-deal extension. Even the teams that are interested have heard conflicting reports about that. But one source who has known Halladay almost his entire career sounds skeptical that he'll be signing any extensions.
"I don't see him blindly signing with that team. Let's put it that way," the source said. "Money isn't going to be enough to get it done. For him, the chance of winning is more important than anything."
But geography might be a close second -- because when we asked where Halladay would most want to be, if he could pick any team and money wasn't an object, you might be surprised by the answer.
"If he could only pick one place? Oh, Philadelphia," the source said. "No question. He lives right near their spring training camp. It's an easy trip down to Florida to get home. They've got a great team. And it's not the pressure of New York -- not that pressure bothers him."
And what about the West Coast? Angels? Dodgers?
"I think he'd go there if it's a trade," the source said. "But I don't see him signing there [long term]."
So as this deal approaches, the teams with the shopping carts will need to be wary of the expectation that they'd be doing any more than renting this guy for one season. And just as important, the Blue Jays might have to adjust their asking price for the same reason.

Well, Rube obviously tried to have Moyer killed by paying off the doctors that performed the groin surgery. That hasn't worked yet, but I have faith that he'll keep trying
