Mine:

1. 500 homers Michael Jack (I am young but have heard that a million times)

2. Abreu inside-the-parker

3. 2008 WS call

4. 1993 NLCS

Aside from the ones already mentioned:

Lieby's pinch hit 3 run homerun in that big come back against the Pirates.

2007 NL East clincher.
Yes son. I'm the best mono-thingy guy there ever was.

1993 "What a ride!"

I remember a little about baseball before that year but with the late double header that I listened to the whole way through and that season in general I fell in love with the Phillies.
Do it again!

I wonder if someone insanely bored has ever gotten together every call he's had of MJS' homers. He called all of them.

Harry's call of Dernier's nearly identical inside-the-parker against those same Giants is also mad awesome.

The best, in terms of just the call itself, for genuine and pure excitement, emotion, surprise, energy, all those things, may be his call for bo Diaz's "Ultimate Grand Slam" against the Mets, 26 years ago today. Two outs in the bottom of the ninth, down three, bases loaded, you know what happens next.

Was one of the lucky few who was actually there for that game.

His speech coming back from 9-11 and calls of Rolen's HR's off Maddux in that game. Especially his asking Scott to take the curtain call.

Did he do that on radio? Wheeler and LA were on TV.

Hmm....I might be wrong here or I heard the radio call somewhere. Not sure.

Well geez, I had little time with Harry compared to everyone else here, but in my mind:

1. Abreu's inside the park walkoff vs. Giants
2. World Champions
3. NL East clincher
4. Lieberthal homerun vs. Pirates
5. Biggio HR vs. Wagner. Hey, not all of them were positive. This one just sticks out. "All the runs are unearned, but so what?" Harry was a fan like the rest of us, and simply conveyed his emotions of how everyone in the Delaware Valley was feeling that night.
6. Chase Utley, you are the man

I'm sure more will come. The list is infinite.

the ones that had me crying tonight, and will always choke me up are #500 and the '08 WS call.

Another vote for Mitchie-poo. At age 16, I stayed up listening to that game on the radio in my bedroom. Though too tired to get too emotional, Harry put everything he had into that last sentence and then gave Mitch a new nickname. I couldn't keep myself from laughing. Hearing the replay is a highlight of the Whatever it Takes Dude Phillies Yearbook tape.

Second place: any home run by Mickey Morandini.

Definitely my favorite Harry call ever...the play took so long to develop that you could just hear his excitement building all the way through..."MITCHELL CAN't PICK IT UP!!" Chills.

I actually remember taping the "Star of the Game" show on the radio postgame just to save that call...

Even though it will always be overshadowed by the '08 season, some of Harry's calls from '07 will always be my favorites.

"...Here comes Iguchi, the throw to the plate....SAFE!!!"

And of course, the NL East clincher, "Look at the scene in the stands, look at the scene on the field!"

I'll also just miss all of the "Harryisms".

"Did-n't want to to that" (after HBP)

"Right down the middle for a ball"

And of course, "There's our old friend".

I'm not trying to pick on Mets fans here, but...

I was curious to see what the reaction to Harry's passing on the Refugees board would be. Most of the posters had very classy things to say, but there was a smattering of "RIP but he was boring as hell as an announcer."

Aside from the inappropriateness of the remarks given the circumstances, I thought that the sentiment was a sad reflection of the way our society is headed. I work with children every day, and I increasingly see a generation growing up that has been so overstimulated and bombarded that its collective attention span is perilously short. I'm 23, and I absolutely include people my own age in this group.

In an era of yattering three man booths, pointless infographics, and sideline reporters, it was a simple pleasure to sit down and watch a ballgame with Harry as your guide. He was a man who understood the pace of the game, its inherent poetry, knew when NOT to talk, and appreciated, more than anything else, that the profound beauty of baseball often simply speaks for itself.

RIP Harry. If they don't "get" you, they don't know what they're missing. I'm not one to go off on a "kids these days" type of thing, but that truly made me sad.
