Jason Churchill: Matzek already talking about Oregon allowing him to play first on days he's not pitching. He's a businessman at 18.

Really? I'm watching the MLB TV coverage and it seems like every pick has been a really good one so far.

Can you briefly explain why it is so crazy?

Oakland took a college player and the Rangers took a high school pitcher from Texas. It's not THAT crazy....

Phils take Dickie Noles
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Because teams that do not break slot are taking guys who are going to require 100% more than slot recommendations. The Padres never break slot and took a guy who wants more than $6M, and they never take prep players early. The Rockies are one of the cheapest teams in baseball and have a lot of picks in the first few rounds, so for them to take a guy who wants $7M+ is crazy. Of course, they pick 32nd, so maybe they did this just to grab an extra pick next year and they just didnt want anyone else taking him. Green was a stud over the summer and falls all the way to Oakland. Pollock was in the 30-40 talent range and ends up going 17th, Alex White slid all the way to 15, the Pirates overdrafted a guy by like 20 spots.

I don't know how you know all that stuff but it is crazy that someone can pay that much attention to this. Thanks for being the resident prospect head.

Great pick for the Cards, Miller was one of the 5 best prep pitchers available and gets to them at 19
