I hear he's good at erections.

Funny how much smaller ballplayers look in real life, isn't it?
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

Good luck Pat - may your 'one path' lead to great things (as long as it's in the other league). i will miss the butt jutt most of all.

I love Pat, but part of me thinks this is the perfect time for him to leave Philly. From the second half of '07 through his final at bat, it was a great ending saved from ruins. Everything came together, kinda like Abbey Road, but with less Yoko and more Irish Pub harlots.

hagen's article from today

"Living downtown with Michelle and having the dog, walking to the park every day, the support was incredible coming down the stretch. I can't tell you how many people came up to me and said stuff like, 'We love having you here, we hope you stay. You went through such bad times and you made it out. You came back and became a great player.' Stuff like that is important, for me anyway, to know that, hey, they're behind you and they care about you and they're pulling for you to get back on track."

from the always-entertaining comments:
I am certainly going to miss him alot. I'm the type of Phillies Phan that wishes people like Rico Brogna and Mickey Morandini still played for the Phillies. Pat has earned a place in my baseball card binder w/my fav Phillies.

"I kind of had a feeling there was a strong possibility, you know, that I wasn’t in the cards," Burrell said during a lengthy phone conversation over the weekend. "At the same time, I hadn’t heard anything from the team.

"You know, there’s a business (aspect) to this sport. And as a player you’d better learn to accept that or else it’s going to be pretty frustrating for you. I was aware that, most likely, the team was going to go the other way. At the same time, I thought there was a chance I might be back."

"I was coming off the field and I started looking around and thinking, ’This might be it.’ At the same time, here we were possibly about to win the World Series," he said.

"At the same time, this is what we signed up for. You never know what’s going to happen. I don’t know what the future holds. We’ll have to wait and see."

it's a shame he's leaving, but i sure do hate that phrase.
Why not just go storm Normandy and get shot in the face while you're at it
Why not get a plumbing license and run around high on shrooms stealing peoples' pocket change

The fact that the Phillies never really engaged Pat Burrell in a negotiation to return makes it seem like less of a business decision and more of a personal one. I guess its still a baseball business decision hampered by the fact that the Phillies seemingly still struggle with being aware of the characteristics that lead to scoring more runs.

If the Phillies had signed Manny Ramirez, I'd understand. If they'd signed Adam Dunn even, I'd understand. But why piss on Burrell when the option is Raul Ibanez? I'll never understand.

I should go down there and sit outside the park until they give me the GM job. Refuse to leave. That's how Amaro got it, right?

God, I wish they'd hired Arbuckle. Why didn't they hire Arbuckle? Amaro is a POS.

Pat must have blocked Ruben's pootytang efforts one too many times.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Sad thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason was something like this.
