Emotion recollected in tranquility

I was at a bar in State College, yelling "fuck the DH" at my ChiSox friends when Blanton hit his homer because I was part-drunk, part-giddy and part-delirious. It was that night I decided to go to Philly the next day to be there for the clincher.

When Jenkins hit the double, I knew they were going to win that night.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

One thing that has been interesting for me, in the aftermath of this World Series, is hearinb/reading about all the complaints about Joe Buck. It makes me appreciate that much more having been able to just put on the radio and have it synch up nicely during the World Series. I didn't hear one fucking word from him or McCarver during any of the Phillies' victories, and it was sweeeeeeeeeeet.

This always crosses my mind, but I never do it. In the end, it feels like more of a big deal to me when I listen to the national guys -- even ones I don't particularly like, such as Buck and the ESPN guys -- doing our games.

attending game 2 NLCS and making fun of brett myers' batting stance during his first AB. moments later, all hell broke loose.

Every couple of days I'll say to my wife: "Hey! The Phillies won the World Series!" Then she rolls her eyes.

I still haven't really accepted it. Maybe Spring Training/Opening Day it'll hit me?

That whole month is such a blur for me (what with all the late nights and drinking and so forth) that I still haven't properly processed it all. I'm due to pick up the phillies ws collectors edition at some point soon, and I think as I watch chunks of that, it will slowly sink in. But it's going to take ages. I was reading one the Game 3 game thread and I was shocked that I couldn't remember anything from that game. Great night though.

I think my most vivid memory of the world series is walking round to the shops before game 5, wound up to high doh, listening to Radiohead's There, There over and over and over again. Boy was I tense.

I kind of feel the same way. I have some shirts and DVDs to prove it, but I still don't know if it ever really completely sunk in. Of course, it's the first time I've really gone through this (I was two months old when the Phils won in '80 and not quite three yet when the Sixers won in '83), so maybe this is how it's supposed to be. To me, it's almost like the season never ended because there was no disappointment when it was over. Of course, I could learn to live with that year after year :-D
