Did this last night. It feels like a jinx, but I figure if the team can ice champagne just in case, so can I.

you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

My wife has some champagne chilling that she hopes to uncork on election night. I don't think it's gonna last that long.

I've given up on trying.

the only thing decent about being so short on sleep is that I'm in a daze and can't focus on counting the minutes right now.

So to answer the question - I'm not sure I'm ready just yet.

Anyone notice Harry Kalas is though? His radio calls to date have been less than stellar but last night - his HR calls were great. The Blanton call being the best. It was old school Harry to me.

God damn, tho'. Never imagined we'd be this close.

I was there last night, yet I don't think I let it sink in yet.

I was extremely excited last night, especially after Blanton's home run, but I can't process the fact that something incredible might happen that hasn't happened since I was a year old.

But as I start to think about it, I feel some tears coming, because I think of my grandfather, who was really a huge Phillies fan, and even though he died before I really got to know him, I know that somehow we're connected through something as shallow as this baseball team. That makes this World Series even more meaningful to me, since I can remember my grandmother regaling me with stories of my Pap's love of The Bull, Pete Rose, and Lefty. I wish he were here to share the magic of Cole, Ryan, and even Mr. Cupcakes last night. I am reminded by many people how much I am like him.

I'm reminded of my wife's grandfather, who died right before we were married. He was an old railroad worker who lived in Harrisburg and often took the train into Philly to catch a game (and used his past credentials to get free rides, which is awesome). When he died, Michelle was given his old Phillies shirt, and wore it to every game she attended. I was given his Veterans Stadium replica. He wanted to go to a baseball game with us in the worst way, but his health got in the way.

And I know this is hokey, but somewhere out there, they're both enjoying this.

I know it's just baseball, but it's also something that connects us. My grandfather and Michelle's grandfather were, in many ways, polar opposites, but shared this team, the same team we here all share.

I truly and deeply thank all of you for riding this ride alongside me. This has been absolutely wonderful.
Together we will win this game against the evil Space Yankees! Eat Fresh!

Damn, the Tivo isn't getting hooked up.

Guess I'll have to pull off a workaround.
