Credit to the rays tho' - they don't sound to fazed. And equally, we don't sound too hyped.

look at the swagger on you - not just missing game 1 of the 1st WS in 15 years, but disdainfully sleeping thru it.

what next, sipping wine spritzers in-game? Posts in politics threads during the 7th inning stretch? where does it end?

Prob(Phillies=World Champions 2008), through game 1:

Tradesports: about 58.5%
Baseball Prospectus (Clay Davenport, not Joe Sheehan, you know, the one who knows stat 101): 66.0%
Coolstandings: 63.9%

Tradesports has tonight's game at 41% for us. If we win, our tradesports odds will go up to about 78%, and if we lose, they will go down about to 45%. BP will probably have us about 84% if we win and 53% if we lose, since they don't like the Rays chances of winning many games when they have 3 lefties to face in 5 games.

Here is the link to email Jim Caple:

Again, his comments:

I pick the Rays to sweep because the American League is that much superior to the National League, which once again got smoked in interleague play and the All-Star Game. It's like the majors versus AAA.

not sure. He's been DH'ing and playing 3B. It says he has made 2 errors but I'm unsure how many chances he's received.

He's hitting a ton as described in this article.

Actually, if Saturday got rained out would it move to Tuesday? Then I'd really be screwed.

From this AM's Inquirer

Rainout information
There is a 70 percent chance for rain in Philadelphia on Saturday, when the Phillies host Game 3.
Should Game 3 be postponed, tickets for Game 3 hold for Game 3. In other words, if Game 3 is rescheduled for Sunday, Game 3 ticket-holders will attend Sunday's game. Game 4 ticket-holders would attend Game 4 on Monday, and Game 5 ticket-holders would attend Game 5 on Tuesday.

So tickets for game 3 get you in to game 3?
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

This is going too fast for me to keep up with.

On another note: The Phils are now 8-2 in the post-season, yet the media seems astounded when they win.

So if one game is rained out, fans with tickets to game 3, 4 or 5 go to a different day.

Yea, that's why I thought they might just move game 3 people to game 5. Easier for me if they don't, though.

But couldn't they maybe play game 4 before game three? I think that would help make it a more interesting series. You could say, "Well, I know it looks like we're down 2-1 in the series, but for all we know the series could actually be tied. We just won't know until we get around to playing game 3. That's why you play these one game at a time, and in a random order."

Who knows, people who had seen game four might have witnessed the clinching game of the series, but not realize it until days later. They'd be wondering why the players were celebrating in the middle of the field and then think, "Oh yeah, just in case!"

That's the kind of innovative thinking that makes this country great.

Except for Jeanne Zelasko practically shouting John McCain's name and then more or less mumbling Barack Obama's name. Am I the only one who noticed?

Multi-platinum country artist Taylor Swift will perform the U.S. National Anthem prior to Game Three of the 2008 World Series at Citizens Bank Park. Two-time Grammy award winning R&B and soul singer/songwriter Patti LaBelle will perform the U.S. National Anthem prior to Game Four of the 2008 World Series. Military personnel from the Philadelphia area will perform God Bless America in the seventh inning of both Games.

A local member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the official charity of Major League Baseball, will deliver the first game ball to the mound at Games Three and Four. At Game Three, the Boys & Girls Club member will be accompanied to the mound by Grammy award winning artist, Tim McGraw.
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "
