It was either the first or second game ever at the Vet. I was 4 at the time, so I don't remember the game. I had a Phillies-Expos program that I prized for years. So I know it was one or the other.

Great idea for a thread...

This one is easy for me although I was only 3.5 at the time and the only thing I really remember is covering my ears because it was so loud:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 0210.shtml

My dad loves to tell the story of how he bribed a drunk security guard to get in (it was around the 5th or 6th inning) with a roll of cash... a $20 on top, a $20 on the bottom and (15) $1's in between for him, my mom, my grandmom, and me.

The first game that I actually remember was around 1984 and they lost to the Pirates. I wish I could remember the exact game but I don't want to just guess. I do remember an old timer sitting in the seat right next to me caught a foul ball and that's the closest I have ever been to catching one.

August 14, 1986 vs Pirates

-- first game of a rare 6-game series
-- some rookie named Bonds was batting 2nd and hit a HR
-- Von Hayes walkoff
-- Mike Schmidt poster day

Easy for me.. 1st home game Kevin Gross pitched after getting caught with sandpaper in his glove...

At that time I was also a huge fan of John T-Bone Shelby who played for a year in AAA Rochester where I grew up. So I got to see the Phils win and Shelby get 3 hits.

This isn't the first one, but I remember it clearly because it was the first series that Dick Allen, my favorite player, came back to Philly to play as a St. Louis Cardinal. So, naturally, it was the only time I've seen a player obtain a platinum sombrero.

I remember this one, too, to celebrate my ninth birthday. Somehow, though, I'd always remembered only 3,000 people being in the stands. I was overestimating by about 800.

I don't remember all that much from this game. I remember Strawberry hitting that double, and how I thought he was out at second. But I wasn't quite 7 years old, so I probably didn't have any idea.

What a weird box score. Schilling had a complete game and there were no pinch hitters or defensive replacements, so the Phillies ended up only using nine guys in a game they won by 8. Also, Joe Millette?

What were they giving away to draw 50,000 people to see that club?

I'm fairly certain it was this one. This would explain why Steve Bedrosian was such a childhood favorite of mine, but I still remember Schmidt hitting a home run, but everyone in my family who went with me tells me that he had a hit, but no HR. Probably looking at the past with rose-colored glasses.

I was only 6 years old at the time, so there's that.

I think this is the one. I know it was 1991 and we lost to the Reds 2-4. My grandfather got us tickets, me, my brother and my dad, a few rows behind home plate. Dallas Green was sitting a few rows behind us with a stopwatch. I got his autograph. My grandfather told me to get it. I had no idea who he was.

July 29, 1984

Two home runs by Von Hayes, a pinch-hit appearance by Pete Rose for the Expos, and a walk-off home run by Len Matuszek off of a pre-armed robbery Jeff Reardon.

I don't know what game it was exactly, but it was in the early summer of 2001. I'm pretty sure Nelson Figueroa was the starter and the Phillies lost.
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

Early in the 1979 season (I had just turned five), I remember it was a loss and Shake and Bake McBride became my fav player. My most vivid memory is my grandfather hustling me out so we got a good spot on the subway to Fern Rock. He did that at the end of every game we went to together.
