Boston with AD is going to be pretty good. I think getting rid of Kyrie helps them, too. Just depends on how much they have to trade to get Davis.

Of course, if Kawhi comes to Philly...

Can AD guard Kwahi and KD?

That was great as usual. I also really liked Dan Devine on the Ringer NBA show. Had some eye popping stats on our playoffs plus minus with Embiid and for the starting five since the Harris trade.

The officiating last night was horrendous and goes to show why home court is important

Didn't think it was particular worse than any other NBA game. There have been plenty that have been worse in these playoffs, just how the league is. Game is too fast, players too big. Felt about the same as the Denver Blazers game where Denver had 15 more FTA's.

Sixers had 30 FTA to 19 for the Raptors. There were definitely missed calls but that happens almost every game.

I didn’t think the refs were egregious

The embiid travel
No flagrants
The bullshit charge by Simmons on Lowry
Ticky tacky calls on Simmons in first half

There were missed calls the other way as well. Gasol got mugged on one of his buckets but they didn't call it because he made it. Normal NBA stuff.

Sure you can always point to specific calls

Ibaka’s “foul” on Jo at the end when he had Lowry on him was bad

Don’t score 13 points in the first quarter and we win.
Jo take this wide open three instead of driving into the defense and getting a shot clock violation
Jimmy Jo Ben all missed a FT in the last 6 mins
Rebound the damn ball
That’s more upsetting than the officials

He wasn't good enough in this series, sick or not. They will win/lose on his shoulders and their best player greatly outplayed ours.

Jo WAS good enough, when he was on the floor. Did you see his +/-? It was insane! But he needs to be healthier. Get his knees healthier, eat better, maybe get a personal trainer if the team doesn't already have him on some kind of program. "Load management" will help his knees, but it won't help with all the other stuff.

He wants to be great. He will be as great as his preparation.

We may have to put a cap on +/- in discussions, or at least mandate that you have to cite at least one other stat in the same sentence. Starting to hit hot taek territory.

Plus minus isn’t perfect or anything but given that they literally couldn’t score or stop the Raptors from scoring without Jo in the game the last 3 (4?) games of the series it seems pretty accurate.

That being said, it’s also true that Jo had to play better for us to win this series with the team we had. Not like dismissing him or anything that’s just how it works. He just said in his exit interview that he took the blame all on him, he gets it.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Joel and Ben have taken dif. paths to stardom but next season it will begin to converge. Joel has the skills, but needs the conditioning to execute. Ben has the drive, but needs some more skills to execute. When both those dudes' inside out games are rolling, they will feast. Butler Harris and co. can fill in the gaps

joel doesn't have a lot of basketball under his belt, but in addition to health/conditioning, his court awareness on the offensive side still needs major improvement. he's been more of a willing and better passer this year, so it's not like he's not improving, but if he wants to be that go to guy in crunch time, he needs significant improvement.
