Re: the cell phone thing - I totally get that he'd want updates on his daughter if she's sick but they doin't have an intern that can hold his phone and verbally communicate any updates to him?

Agreed, though the former typically follows the latter.

I don’t get what the hell Simmons was doing. Struggling against the Celtics is one thing, they’re an elite defensive team, they’re long and athletic ect. The Nets we’re playing a bunch of unathletic 6’6” guys. He has to take it to the rim and dunk it.

Sure, but what good is that if it's flat out against NBA rules and punishable by fine or suspension?

it's not an unfair point, but if they were winning by 15 at the time they showed it, nobody actually cares and it's a footnote, it's just one of those things that gets blown up because it's part of the narrative of the game (team looks flat, guys not even paying attention on the bench, coach on the hot seat!)

Yeah Amir didn’t handle it great, fair point it’s against the rules ect, it’s just more understandable than if he was DMing girls or something.

100% understandable. There are always things bigger than our jobs, especially family. And to mcare's point it's only an issue because they just got smoked by an underdog at home. But still, gotta be smarter than that is all.

Also, really hope his daughter is ok. Idk any details but it must be serious if he's checking his fucking phone during a playoff game.

To be fair, he was inactive for the game, so he probably just thought eh, I'll be able to sneak a peek without anyone noticing, and it backfired. We've all been there, there just wasn't a national TV camera pointed at us.

I was working nightshift in a building once that no cell phones were allowed period and my sister was about to have a baby. So I wanted updates. Instead my alarm went off like a son of a bitch at 6 am which is my normal wakeup time. The supervisor was right beside me. Thank God it was nightshift and he was cool.

I sure as heck would want updated on my kid. That is personal. Not for PR.

Nets were 5-1 in this series, I put $100 down on the Nets once I got worried about Embiid. Figured if I'm gonna be disappointed, might as well have the potential to make some money out of it, if it goes south.

If the Sixers lose, Brown will almost assuredly lose his job over it. Not sure that isn't the best thing for them going forward.

Driving back from the game I saw a guy pulled over on the side of the highway in a Simmons shirsey keeled over looking like he was about to vomit. Sums up the day perfectly.

maybe they should can Brown in the summer, but for this series, it's all about the starters. maybe 1 or even 2 can be garbage, but if 3 out of 5 play like crap, there's no coach or bench or scheme that can overcome that
