Mrs. Woody should be so lucky. She never gets past 45 seconds.

Just read about the pollyanna. Went to my aunt's place on XMas because nobody in my family can marry a Jew but me and we did one with his side of the family. I did the old put a gift in a big box gag and it worked as nobody grabbed my poorly wrapped gifts til halfway through. The funniest momemt was my wife grabbing a box of chocolates with 1 chocolate and 30 bucks in it and some white trash husband of a cousin of my uncle grabbed it from her and my mom grabbing it back at the end and handing it back to my wife. Sucka, and he ended up with a cheap ass box of real chocolates.

I think LED flashlights are awesome. There's a new technology that really is an improvement over anything that has existed in the past.

My car (Infiniti G35) has the IPOD dock in the console and bluetooth wireless for cell. Pretty much the coolest thing ever.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I've got a Drobo. Had 3 external hard drives die on me in 1 year and was tired of having to have like 3 backups of important stuff (photos, school stuff, etc.). Don't fear that much with the Drobo. Very easy to set up.

Looks decent but it is expensive and it you apparently need a Drobo to read the drives, thus, you can't move them elsewhere without reformatting them.

drobo is only usb, no ethernet, which totally stinks, making it nice for personal use, not so for network applications....

and I've heard on the rare occasion it fails, it fails BIG....

people i've heard with this still back up there data somehow....

i'm not sure how its "better" than raid, maybe the setup is easier....

it probably does some kind of striping or mirroring so its most likely no different than raid....

There is a ethernet attachment.

It is supposedly better than RAID because it is completely dynamic. Any size disk, throw it in on the fly and you are good to go.

Picked up that GPS's ancestor, the C310x, about 1 1/2 years ago. It is by far the most hackable GPS on the planet. Started life as a bare bones GPS w/MP3. It now plays movies, has text-to-speech guidance, games, calendar, alarm clock, etc. My vote for coolest gadget ever.

I've been looking at GPS recently, and can't figure out where to start.

I don't need driving directions as much as just a map to look at with zoom out, zoom in.

But I would like it to show me things nearby.

Basically, I'd like google maps on a bigger interface than my iphone.

Any recs?

I got my wife the Garmin Nuvi 350recently and she loves it. It's small, has the turn by turn directions (with Australian accent!) and is really easy to use. I only looked at Garmin's when buying, but yeah, there are a million models (which will all be obsolete when iphone-type phones are the standard). I did learn that there is very little difference between them all so I'd recommend deciding what the 'must-have' features are and get a bare bones version without unneeded (expensive) bells and whistles. A good way to do might be to sort by price high to low and work your way up the list to compare

Another option to consider: If you're ready to get a new cell phone, maybe just get any one of the 2000 new fancy smart phones that have GPS navigation built it.

Vox got me an iphone for christmas, so that won't be traded in anytime soon. I actually find the mail and calendar more useful daily than a gps.

I have a garmin nuvi 200 I got at circuit city around christmas for $160. It works well in getting me around, and it has over 6 million POI and you can add POI to it depending on what you want.
