Yes, it is. I frequently refer back to old posts about things that are useful. A lot of collective knowledge will disappear.

If we can't save this archive, we should make sure it's set up in a way to save the new one, if needed.

Same, there are lots of incredible memories and amazing thoughts that were expressed. And looking back at old posts always served as a sort of marker in time in my and our evolution. Then again, all of the history is weighty and adds to the feeling of being chained, and you can't get too attached to things. I've been scrolling through some old posts this week and will continue to do so until the board shuts down. There are some things we've forgotten about ourselves, and some we'd rather not remember. While I'm actually glad to zero it out and start anew, I wish I had some more time to preserve choice archives. Man, 1 week was really a tough notice. I think what this has taught me to is write more in general. We are our time capsules

I have over 39,000 posts. I tend to be pretty wordy, so we'll say an average of 20 words per post. That's 780,000 words. By contrast, War & Peace has 587,287.

Probably getting rid of the reminder of that lost time is a good thing.
