Wow, thanks everyone. The response is AMAZING. Right now we have enough in our war chest (even after paying 3 years upfront*) that we could extend 11 more years. Or put a trailer hitch on my model Y!!!

30 donors so far. Just overwhelming.

I need to figure out what to do with our "slush fund" so that I'm not the only one with eyes on it and access to it. I mean, I guess you guys trust me, but what if I get hit by a bus?? (I mean besides the random celebrations).

The asterisk part: Our initial hosting is moma's swag at what we'll need. We have the capital to pivot/upgrade if necessary. And even (I haven't discussed this with moma yet) plunk down for some jobber programmers to help with the setup if necessary (there's all kind of PHPBB nerds out there willing to help out for a buck). Not that I think it will be necessary, but just in case.

But I would want to make sure that the becomes a collective. I mean sure, we'll need mods to keep the riff-raff out, but something that could continue unabated (if warranted) by simply handing the reins over to a new generation.

Anyhow, like 99.4% of the thanks goes to moma. All I'm doing is counting the money. I got scalp deep in day job work last night, so I couldn't record donations as they flowed in, but I was able to reconcile this morning, and everything in my paypal and venmo accounts matches exactly with the contributions I recorded (after a bit of hunting for the one I missed!).

Maybe on the new board there will be a way to set up a 'private' treasury board where only donors can access, and we can be fully transparent with the budget...

Oh, and whose initials are TC? PM me if you want me to match your username with your donation.

There's also a TP whose name I don't know, but I think I figured that one out :)

There's still a lot of work to do so this is going to be an ongoing process for awhile.

Ooooh and then after we've built up our board's popularity we can take it public with an IPO to the new posters and we can all get rich, rich, rich, though I assume Trent probably already owns a controlling interest in the new board.

Is this a stock offering or a pyramid scheme I forget
