Black Lives F*ing Matter, Jesus F*ing Christ (civil rights)

If you worked in retail or something and someone came into your store just to annoy you in a non-threatening manner and you punched them in the face, would you expect to keep your job and would you be surprised by a lawsuit or criminal charges?

Fun fact - Philly's own Urban Outfitters is a $3.5B company with no HR department

Cross-posting from the NFL thread but seems more relevant to this one now

Last month, more than 700 employees signed a letter to corporate executives, calling for “racial justice” inside the company. According to a copy obtained by The Inquirer, employees asked the company to institute mandatory training on bias, create a diversity and inclusion team to oversee hiring, and establish an “official HR team” where Black employees would feel safe to report discrimination.

With that comes a lot of requirements. Or, it should. The officer will be able to go home after having a donut dangled near him.

Understood. Hopefully the guy dangling the donut learns one day that when you act like that don’t be surprised to end up looking at the sky.

See if this had stopped with the shoving and no arrest was made, I'd be cool with it. You act like a provocative asshole, you need to expect a response, and a shove all things considered is well within reason.

The arrest is where they crossed the line. Leave it at "dangle a donut, get shoved," it's sort of two dudes having a go. No state involvement.

OR the cop could have said, "If you continue to do that you will be arrested for harassment," given the kid 30 seconds to comply, and then arrested him. Doing everything by the book of course.

The charge wouldn't have stuck but maybe the dude would have thought twice about trying it again.

Some serious "tough guy" energy here.

Maybe the police could stop abusing their power and become an institution worthy of respect.

Until then, fuck them.

That protestor silently dangled a donut near some police officers. He rightfully got pushed, had his toy taken away, and was arrested.

What should he expect, police to react nonviolently to being slightly annoyed? Police to not escalate and create a situation?

These damn entitled snowflake liberals wanting to not get roughed up and arrested for no apparent reason. They’re nothing compared to our thick-skinned badass heroes in blue.

The amount of cop hate here is nauseating. I hope you all get what you want. You’ll be the first ones begging for help.

I don’t hate cops. I think it’s a joke that a guy whose job is/should be to deescalate situations reacts violently to a guy being annoying.

I’m so scared of a future where police officers are held accountable if they abuse their positions. It will be bedlam if police officers can’t swing away at peaceful protestors. Imagine a world where police can’t break into houses in the middle of the night and shoot sleeping people or if they can’t choke people to death in the street for nonviolent crimes.

If the police can’t pepper spray restrained peaceful protestors, will there be any difference between our country and a war-torn third world nation?

police reform is so desperately needed. the culture must change in addition to demilitarizing it. however this FUCKING IDIOT dangling the donut is not protesting, he is mocking and baiting the officer. HIS ACTIONS are COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. i would smack this idiot, so the cops wouldn't have to, even though i support most of his views.

The donut guy is definitely an idiot who is doing stupid shit for no apparent reason other than to be a dick.

The cops pushing him and arresting him didn’t really accomplish anything productive either though. It would undermine donut guy much more if they just rolled their eyes at him and ignored him.

now that Kareem has called out DeSean and Gimpy has denounced this protester, maybe some cops will call for the murderers of Breonna Taylor, Andres Guardado, etc to be arrested?

can't be afraid to call out someone on your own team. i like to say i try to hold my standards higher for my "own team" than the "opposing" one.

unfortunately very few people share my opinion. can't be apologists because of the name on the jersey.

I don’t think I suggested the protestor was anything other than a jackass, but it isn’t illegal to be a jackass so I’m not behind arresting him.

I would have started playing with it like a cat and refused to say anything to the protestors others than MEOW.

Short media session for Tobi today
