Would love to get Pacino's thoughts on this but so far it has been insane. We were told this was going to launch on 4/24. Instead it went live at like 2 am on a Saturday with no warning. Some who applied for regular UC and got denied now cannot access this because it says they have a claim pending (or something similar). And have seen several business owners under the impression that if they applied for PPP for their employees, that applying for PUA could put the PPP in jeopardy. The state roll out is bad but the guidance put forth by the federal government is awful.

Got busier this week at work and was annoyed at the seeming inconsistencies of the day to day fluctuations, but week to week seems like the data should be real. Or as real as it can be with the testing issues.

Things are bad and I don't think they're getting better, but I think on the whole the rate at which they're getting worse seems to have plateaued. Still almost half of the deaths in the state happened in the past seven days, averaging 270 per, and I'd guess we hit something close to that number again next week. Unless this week was inflated by adding in nursing home deaths that have occurred all along (hopefully?) or maybe nursing homes will do a better job moving forward (or so many people have died in them that we're running out of people who can get it). I saw on the news last night that 40% of deaths in Jersey have occurred in nursing homes, which is staggering.

Camden opening up some space in the 'lead' among counties in South Jersey. The city of Camden, looking at the municipality data, is worse than the county as a whole, which makes sense given what we're seeing around the country in cities vs. more suburban and rural places. Seems very much though like social distancing went into place early enough in SJ that it won't get truly awful like the northern part of the state. Just quite bad. Rate of growth of new cases isn't that steep, which is positive, if it's not entirely an artifact of testing capacity. Everything still looks like a ways away from being OK though.

That's scary as hell, especially since my mom is at an assisted living place. She's very healthy and independent, and it's certainly not a distressed facility, but you have to hate those odds. A month ago it seemed reassuring that she was in a place where meals could be dropped off at her apartment and presumably levels of hygiene and training were above what one would find in the outside world. Now it feels like we've consigned her to a game of Russian roulette. They're just getting around to requiring residents t wear masks, although, oh, not quite, since they don't have enough masks.

PA wine liquor stores will be doing phone orders to stores starting Monday for curbside pickup. Call between 9am-1pm or whenever they reach their max. Credit card only. All sales final. Selection will be limited.

Check their website for which ones will be open.

Yeah I never heard the term either and dove into this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/maryland/comme ... e/fnstpyl/

So the guy probably bought up 100 domains (assuming reopenfl.com and reopenflorida.com) but he was too cheap to pay for the privacy protection which costs $2-$3 more a year per domain. Since no one calls NJ "New Jersey", I bought reopenjersey.com ...

very sorry to hear that.

It's a big country, as warszawa likes to remind us, but NJ has suffered deaths attributed to COVID-19 approaching 1 in 2000 people. New York, one in 1000, with over one in a hundred testing positive. Pennsylvania only one in 100,000 deaths, though more in the Philadelphia area, of course. Nationwide, positive tests are up above 1 in 500 people with ten states, plus DC, running above that average. it will be the rare person indeed who will not know someone touched by the disease when (fingers crossed) it's all over.
