Since Pacino posted Obama's book recommendations, I think it is only fair that Trump gets fair time:

The Russia Hoax: The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump by Gregg Jarrett
The Briefing: Politics, the Press and the President by Sean Spicer
9 Rules of Engagement by Harris Faulkner
The Capitalist Comeback: The Trump Boom and the Left's Plot to Stop It by Andy Puzder

UNC students pulled down 'silent Sam' the racist man statue on campus in topple Saddam style. There wil be some amount of hell to pay since the NC state government made it specifically criminal to remove legacy commemorations.

Wow, I also had no idea these were actual books recommended by Trump. That is simply amazing.

Heritage not is hate.

In 1913, Julian Carr, a prominent industrialist and supporter of the Ku Klux Klan, was invited to speak at the unveiling of a statue of a Confederate soldier on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It had been placed there by the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Carr’s lengthy address made clear the symbolism of the statue. First, he credited Confederate soldiers with saving “the very life of the Anglo Saxon race in the South,” adding, “to-day, as a consequence the purest strain of the Anglo Saxon is to be found in the 13 Southern States — Praise God.”

Then, he went on to tell a personal story.

“I trust I may be pardoned for one allusion, howbeit it is rather personal,” Carr said. “One hundred yards from where we stand, less than ninety days perhaps after my return from Appomattox, I horse-whipped a negro wench until her skirts hung in shreds, because upon the streets of this quiet village she had publicly insulted and maligned a Southern lady, and then rushed for protection to these University buildings where was stationed a garrison of 100 Federal soldiers. I performed the pleasing duty in the immediate presence of the entire garrison, and for thirty nights afterwards slept with a double-barrel shot gun under my head.”

thephan wrote:Here is the reason behind DJT saying that California can't get water to fight forest fires:

Hundreds of California farmers rallied at the Capitol on Monday to protest state water officials' proposal to increase water flows in a major California river, a move state and federal politicians called an overreach of power that would mean less water for farms in the Central Valley.

There is a bit of a 'Big Ag' angle looking to secure water rights. It is honestly a sizable problem since a good big of your veg comes from CA. While it is also true that CA has led the way in water redirection making their desert green. One would think that there could be something done, that will comes at some expense, that could put the agricultural concerns at ease while also protecting another food source, if we want to reduce a (tasty) species to that.

One suggestion I've read about, and I don't know how feasible it really is, is to redirect growing fruits and vegetables to places that get more rain than CA's central valley. Places like Arkansas for instance, which used to grow lots of strawberries for instance. But farmers are especially reluctant to make such huge changes. It's not like it's easy to take a farm that grows soybeans and convert it to growing strawberries, and the skills and knowledge involved aren't transferable. And, of course, if it doesn't work out, the farmer in question is ruined. To get someone growing soybeans today to start growing strawberries next year would require substantial incentives, and I just don't see the political demand.

On the other hand, growing rice in CA does seem quite silly. But they do.

Scott Wagner said he'd 'consider' banning same-sex marriage and equality if it came across his desk as governor.

For a party that espouses "limited government", Republicans, with all their moral authority and questionable personal morality, sure do like to tell the rest of us how to live.

jury in Manafort trial sends note to Judge

"if we cannot come to a consensus on a single count" how should they fill in the verdict form, and "what does that mean for the final verdict."

bad news for Manafort, sounds like they have convictions for most counts

In a deposition, regarding the fraud lawsuit over Trump University, Trump claimed to be unable to remember so many specific things that the opposing lawyer eventually asked him whether he remembered saying he has one of the world’s best memories. Trump said he couldn’t remember saying that.

Snagged from a WaPo article about what DJT & Co are really afraid of, but I liked it and wanted to share a chuckle.
