Sure. I'm willing to talk about anything related to what I'm going through. The medication I'm on is called Blue 667. The pills are big and I take four first thing in the morning. I'm in a trial. That means the patient is not the priority. I'm like a lab rat. But I know it's raising hell with my tumors. The side effects are pretty mild so far. Lots of people are praying for me and I truly believe that helps a lot. Mrs. Smitty has been a great caretaker. That's one reason I love her so much.

My uncle has stage 4 lung cancer as well, diagnosed about 6 months ago, and is on a trial drug now. I'll have to ask him what he's taking, I know he has to go into the hospital for injections for it periodically.

Glad to hear it's giving the tumors trouble, hope it's not giving you too much.

The side effects are mild so far. I'm still living large with my beautiful wife. Cancer is a funny game. It effects people differently. And it can be pretty vicious. But as of now things are going pretty well.

I don't know you Smitty but I have enjoyed your posts and share others' impressions that you're a good man with a good heart.

Your story touched me because lung cancer was the impetus for my three most recent trips to spring training.

I knew Pete because his daughter and mine were classmates. We'd chat at swim meets and after-school care stuff. He was a quiet guy but a Phillies fan like me.

Well he invited me to lunch and told me about his recent diagnosis. He was in treatment and looked the same as usual.

He didn't make any grand public declarations but decided to start checking things off the bucket list. He learned Italian and took his family to Italy twice.

He wanted to go to spring training and persuaded me to go with him. I had gone alone in 2008 which was a great time to go when the Phils were on the cusp of something big. With Pete, I returned three more times. We found the best places to stay and to eat.

He also suggested we drive down from Yardley to Philly on a string of trips to verify Glen MacNow's cheesesteak research.

His horrible diagnosis led us to some great times that never would have happened.

We went to the Phillies parade and got seats in CPB. We took his young son and I told him that I had waited 28 years since the last championship, so drink it all in.

I'm afraid his drugs weren't as good as yours because he's gone now. I hope we're here discussing the next Phillies championship with you, Smitty.

ah fuck, smitty. I pop back in today to touch base and I just read this. As we say back home, that's some bollix. I am really sorry to hear that you've been going through that. Fair does for beating out your initial assessment so far, and glad to hear BSG helps keep you ticking over. I'll make more of an effort to post, boss. Least I can do. You take care, and tell mrs smitty she's a fine woman if she's got your back so well.

It is bollix. But what are you gonna do.? I just deal with it. When I wake up, I know it's gonna be a great day. And it is.

I really like this board because a lot of smart, fun people post here. I can't work so I spend a lot of time reading and posting here. It keeps my mind active and entertained. And that's a good thing.

I've told board people I've met and of course MickBayne and SK knew. I decided I'd let you guys know why I have so much time to read and post here.

Anyways, that's the news.

One of our great posters. All great good luck to you in your fight - looks like you’ve been holding your own and there is hope for better days to come. I will certainly be pulling for you.

Cool, glad it's helping.

The reason I asked is that close friends of mine were closely involved in development/production of another cancer drug, Keytruda.

Science tells us that outcomes from cancer treatment are better for those with larger and more supportive social networks. Social isolation is bad for cancer treatment recovery and pretty much everything else. So I am glad you are actively maintaining your network. Also glad you reached out and shared this news with people who can let you know how much they enjoy having you part of their own social network.
