Fred Hutchinson is a research place. I'm being treated mostly at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Center. Fred Hutchinson is across the street. I'm on a trial medication . Four big blue pills every morning.

And for everyone, this is how to get the best care. Everyone takes Medicare rates, and so just look up the best place for your problem, in your area, or not in your area if it is rare, and go there.

In planning for my congenital valve repair I did not want someone who did valve jobs every now and again.

When I got to the Cleveland clinic my assigned cardiologist said how do you know your surgeon, is he a family friend? The doctor did not just take anyone. He has a several month wait list ( supposedly) and what not.

I said I looked up the best surgeon, in the entire world and thought that was good enough for me. Everyone in the Entourage of the cardiologist laughed.

I heated up, so to speak ( when I stood up my BP dropped 43 points!!!) so I could not wait.

I wound up with number five, in the world. It turned out ok. There was some difficulty. and then a post op complication, that could have been avoided, but well, the surgeon was top notch.

I made it through, and then knew that my surgeon had the dexterity of ten women. ( She is a woman cardio thoracic surgeon)

They recruit just like in baseball. The surgeon had trained in NY and so on.

Every time I see this thread bumped, I assume the update is going to be that you kicked that cancer’s ass and it’s completely gone.

I’m glad you’re doing well. You’re going to beat it.

I returned from the SCCA and received good news. I'm currently duking it out with cancer and more than holding my on. I've been fighting this stuff for 4 1/2 years. My plan is to keep fighting and not giving up. A LOT of people are helping me including you guys on the board. So thank you.
