RE: "Shorting". This seems weird that this is even legal. I just heard that the "shorts" recently tried to oust Elon at the most recent shareholder meeting. Given that their finances are tied to the company failing, it seems like they would want to sabotage the company to make that happen.
Yes shorting is legal, and speaking your opinion about the company you partially own through stock is legal.
What is not legal is making things up. Whenever you buy you are dealing with a guy who has the opposite opinion.
And you have sold stock so at that point you had the short opinion.
There are a few people who are so good at what they do you should not bet against them.
Musk is more of a Deming engine than a genius, although he is also a genius.
I would take a couple of hours and read Quality is free by Richard Crosby regarding the process Musk is using.
Musk is relentless about applying Demimg's principles.
Combined with his genius and the talent of those in his employ he will continue to be the most powerful single market force in the world.
Along those lines he needs a lot of security.
To recapitulate, this is business as usual, there are winners and losers.
The folks with mega money who bet against him did so using standard analysis.
TSLA is worth billions because the market is discounting future performance.
The Model 3 is now outselling ALL of its electric and gas competition combined.there is a graphic available about that.
Musk isn't selling cars, he is selling a future powered by batteries and fueled by the wind and sun.
At trade shows TSLA brings a house with solar panels a battery pack and the three cars.
I hope they get out the compact SUV BEFORE the first gen electric competition does.it looks like they will release about the same time.
Then you have trucks big and x large, a pickup that will dominate that HUGE market by bringing your shop power to the job site, and the next gen roadster. Oops, I almost forgot buses, AND the Boring companies, MANY projects which will use TSLA as its backbone.
TSLA makes the MOST batteries in the world, again, more than all the others put together, but they are currently BUYING batteries from competitors for energy projects.
Once they go profitable next quarter it would be nice to see them speed up the introduction of new vehicles.
That is the only thing that will keep them from gigafactory 10 and 11 and so on. Gigafactories four five and six are baked into the pie. 7,8, and 9 will come with expansion and the typical Musk Domination.
Finally, one respected outlet said they are getting 30% markup on the Model 3.
All because he is a devout follower of Dr. Deming.
