Money in politics is fine as long as everyone has the same amount of money, which of course they don't and never will.

I wish more people would talk about public financing of elections. A guy I know from high school is a rabid republican and ran for some seat in Washington state. I asked him only one question about his politics, what did he think of public financing elections? He didn't really have an answer.

I really think it would fix many of our problems and, despite it being called "public financing," it would surely be cheaper for the country overall. It would need to be rebranded or people would start whining about their tax dollars.

If Tillerson bails it will not be before he has done his job for Bannon by destroying the State Department. He might be unwitting, but he has done it just the same.

Campaign funding is how a field is winnowed, and how a candidate is told that s/he has no chance to win. I'm sure other mechanisms could be put in place, but private funding has some benefits from an information point of view.
